Title: water pump leak ? Post by conoflex on Jun 30th, 2011, 10:15am Got a leak on my pump I think, seems to be coming from a small hole in pump (relief valve ?? I can't look myself as i'm disabled now so going on what a mate told me when he looked) no other symptoms except losing about 2 ltrs of water after a few miles. Any cure for this or is it going to be a new a new pump? |

Post by gozz on Jun 30th, 2011, 12:53pm It,s very unlikely that anyone would repair it even if parts were available.The 24v pump I'm sure is obsolete,and if you or your repairer obtains one from a factor it will be a 12v one which they list as fitting the 24v,but it doesn't.Much has been printed on here about converting a 12v for use on a 24v,if you check back on the site you will find it,it's rather involved,apart from blanking off part of the rear of the pump,the hose connection is at a different angle.12v pumps are plentiful and cheap,maybe someone skilled could take the bearing and seal out of one and shove it into your body. Post by Tompion on Jun 30th, 2011, 7:52pm It’s not that there’s a problem with pumps from factors, just they supply you with one for the 12v, indeed Ford often do the same. The picture in that link is for the 12v pump – the price is a good guide, expect more than double that for a 24v pump. The outlet cranks the other way on the 24V & has 1 bolt hole less at that point. |
