Title: wiper blades Post by micky5 on Oct 4th, 2011, 12:56pm Hi, for some reason my wipers are stopping up about two two and half inches from where they should at end of sequence, any ideas why? P.S. when they are running they run all the way down to the bulkhead where they should, just when they end they are as i said above, thank you in advance Micky |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Snoopy on Oct 5th, 2011, 8:18am Do you mean when they " Park" after use? If so check to see if they are tight on the splined shaft( nut under cover) as they can be adjusted by lifting and moving round after slackening the nut off. |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by gozz on Oct 5th, 2011, 8:34am Are the spindles seizing up ? remove the driving rod and feel each spindle for freedom. |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by micky5 on Oct 5th, 2011, 10:10am they are free to move so not frozen , just dont return fully to "park" when sequence ends, do the arms just pull off when you take off the nut under the cover? thanks |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Simmo on Oct 5th, 2011, 10:21am Yes. They are splined, as Snoopy says, as are the spindles so you may need to gently lever them up. It is the splines which hold them in the relevant position and the nut secures them. This article (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/wiperlinks.htm) may help as it shows the set up. ;) |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Highlander on Oct 5th, 2011, 10:21am Yep but they are usually stuck and need some persuasion :) Has this just happened recently, on both wipers?? Are they sweeping correctly, from the bottom of the windscreen all the way up? |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Simmo on Oct 5th, 2011, 11:10am You need to get the mechanism back to the 'Park' position before you try the blades. :) |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Highlander on Oct 5th, 2011, 2:45pm I don't understand this one. Why didnt they sweep over the edge of the windscreen if they were incorrectly positioned and how did they get out of position?? |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by micky5 on Oct 5th, 2011, 4:13pm the guy who fixed it said the mechanism under the bonnet (which turns the arm which drives the arm) , was suddenly 180 degree,s out of sinc.... all i did was take off the blades and shift them down a bit, ...maybe the out of sinc. bit is what caused the blades to be wrong in the first place.... cheers |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by micky5 on Oct 5th, 2011, 4:24pm i think they originally got out of position as a cpl of weeks ago the ball &socket bit on the arm came apart and may have jammed at one point, i used the cable tie method of fixing that problem, |

Title: Re: wiper blades Post by Highlander on Oct 5th, 2011, 4:36pm Still don't understand how that could happen... But as long as its fixed! ;D |
