Title: Heater/ engine temperature problem Post by catalina on Nov 7th, 2011, 8:18pm My Cossie has done 70,000 miles only. Now winter is here, the engine temp hardly goes above the bottom of the scale. So I get almost no heat from the heater. I suppose the thermostat is the primary suspect, but from past experience on my last Cossie, the task of replacing this is very difficult and the cost prohibitive if done by Ford. Has anyone had any success in resolving such problems by using a cooling system cleaning fluid? Are there any risks of damage in using such fluids? I have no garage so any effort to change the thermostat myself will have to wait 'til the next time we have a springtime. Does anyone know a repairer who has replaced a thermostat on a Cossie successfully and at a reasonable cost? I am in Shropshire but would be prepared to travel a considerable distance if I could be confident of a successful outcome!!!! Cheers John |
