My air con climate control is u/s I know this as black smoke pumping out from front of car not good. I have a replacement I am just wondering if I need to add oil to the pump before I fit it to the car And get it gassed up. If so what spec would it be and how much? thanks for your help . kind regards RICH

What you mean is .......... the pump has seized and the belt has melted or broken.
When you replace the pump replace the belt as well but there is no need to add oil to the pump as this is added to the refrigerant in a calculated amount when you have it re gassed. but DO NOT USE THE A/C BEFORE IT IS RE-GASSED The best thing to do is leave the belt OFF until its re-gassed. Its a very easy task to refit the belt to a 24v or 12v as the belts are separate.

The pump has seized solid belt started burning black smoke then the belt snaped.I was just wondering as a precaution if I needed to add oil to the pump before I fitted it. thankyou snoopy that has cleared that up. regards Rich.
