Title: More of the same - 2.3 non-starter

I cooked the engine in my 2.3  :( and have now replaced the engine with a supposedly good one.  The engine now turns over but doesn't fire.  The mirriad of plugs hoses and connectors are done up.  Is there anything simple that I may have missed before I start delving deeper. TIA Bob

Bob, the only thing that springs to mind is the state of the battery. If the battery is on the low side often it will turn the engine BUT there is just not enough power to actually start it. Best wishes, Mike.

Make sure the plug to the EDIS is in nice and tight. Its located near the offside headlight.
Check that you have power to the coil packs and the fuel cut off has not operated.
