Title: Boot closure mechanism
Post by Pegasus on Aug 26th, 2012, 5:44pm
Hi,
just changed over a boot lid. Swapped over  the lock barrel and actuator from my original.
Problems are (with my original and existing barrel/actuator):
1. can't just push the button to open the boot - have to use the key;
2. the fob release doesn't work (though central locking with fob does);
3. the 'boot open' light stays lit on the dash (even if I force a 'lock' on the lock with the boot open).

Thought a battery reset might work - but no.

I've also thought of changing over the lock motor but it was a struggle to separate it from the original lock (still on the boot) and doubt I'd be able to replace the one currently in place without actually removing the lock.
The instructions here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/body/closures/bootlock.pdf) make removing the lock look easy but both Tompion & I can't see how it comes out!

Any thoughts/suggestions gratefully received

Paul

The button on the boot only operates a switch which in turn operates a solenoide to open the boot. The key pulls a bar to open the boot, no power required. Sounds like you have no power to the boot switch.

I agree, more than that, no power to the motor (why remote doesn't work); lid shut loop open circuit as well (dashboard light), suggests a whole connector block is not fitted correctly.

Incidentally pushing the lock button sends a signal to an electronic gizmo box which then works the motor, same way as using the key fob would.

Thanks Lads,
