Title: temp guage changing
Post by leewar on Sep 27th, 2012, 9:41pm
Hi Guys, Temp guage fluctuates from level to low. Town work it stays level, motorway it goes towards the blue. Sensor, air lock, blocked up somewhere( I do get heat)???  Any advice welcome please. Cheers Lee

Quite likely a faulty thermostat but could be an airlock/partial blockage in the heater loop. Heat from the matrix at this time of year isn’t really a good indication of how well it works.

Temp normal around town & dropping on a run deffo sounds like the thermostat is stuck open  :)

There should be a 'Thermostat' how to do I think.   For the Four cylinder engines.

There is ! (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/cooling/ThermoDOHC.pdf) :)
Lee. Make sure you get a Ford one....I know it may be dearer....BUT ..when I did mine the pattern one wouldn't fit because the design was not identical and I had to buy from Ford. If I recall there was a slot or something in the original?Remember to soak the fitting with WD before trying to undo the bolts. ;)
Update.The part number for mine was 6994257 and the rubber ring 1092262.  £20 !! January 2011. ::)

I concur with jonnycab etc., I've got this problem. Well doesn't "fluctuate", just doesn't get up to mid in the cold weather. Should really do something about it maybe ;D

Or like aerosol penetrating fluid, and leave overnight to soak in. ;D
