I have had my brake pads renewed front and back also the front discs.
I now have the ABS light on all the time, garage said it could be the ABS pump, All was OK before the brake change, any quick fix?

Looks as if you've maybe disturbed a wire for the front or back whilst changing the pads. Unfortunately there is never a quick fix with these things. You can check the wiring joints on the inner front wings. You can take off the rear sensors and clean them up, after that it's time to get the multi-meter out and check for continuity. This aforementioned check is fairly straightforward but a little fiddly and tricky. Of course if the front discs were removed by someone that was heavy-handed, walloping them off with a big hammer, this may have 'shock-damaged' the front sensor/s

Yes does sound like a sensor may have been disturbed or even damaged during the renewal. If you're lucky might be just swarf or rust magnetically stuck to it or on the castellated ring. (?)

Thanks for the replies, on the dignostic tester it shows NO faults, but the mechanic was not sure what car it would come under as Scorpio was not listed or Granada.
The garage is going to look into the problem a bit deeper, but if anyone has any other solution I would be most gratefull, if I do get a result I will post the cure,

where about in the country are you? a few of us have ford FDS2000 diagnostic kit which is what the dealers used to use back in the day

Podge, definitely sounds like one of the ABS sensors or it's wiring has been damaged. Some models of the Teves ABS pump (well, the ECU attached to the bottom of it) are known to go faulty (dry solder joint, lots of info on the site somewhere) but I'd think it to be an unlikely coincidence.

The ABS sensors are essentially a coil of wire (Google 'hall effect') and can be checked with a bog standard multimeter - I'm not sure of the coil resistance but it should definitely only be a few hundred ohms maximum.

Also check the wiring leading to the sensors for signs of damage. Ideally you would want to test the sensor for resistance from the multiplug on the ABS pump, a bit of a pain and you'll need the pinout of the plug, but that will tell you whether the sensors have been damaged.

If the sensor, or the wiring leading to it, was to go open (broken) or short circuit, that would definitely cause your ABS lamp fault.

I have my abs light on as well, I have checked all the sensors and they read 1.04 k ohms. The light comes on at, 15mph, so it passes the static test.
