Scorpio 16v Estate 1996. When stationary or moving slowly if I press and depress the gear while in first gear       I get a rattle from the rear area. Could this indicate a worn diff or driveshaft joints. All suggestions appreciated.

Rear Wheel Bearing maybe.

In general : Diffs tend to whine, driveshaft joints clonk, wheel bearings groan.
A rattle sounds more like something loose, worn bushes or the exhaust breaking up ?
