Title: Sensotronic problem
Post by Remy43 on Jan 9th, 2013, 3:55pm
Hello all,

New here.. I'm Rémy, from Holland. Own 2 '98 24v Cosworth's and have a little problem with one of them.

The latest one I bought has a problem with it's powersteering. The steering wheel doesn't turn heavily, but compared to my older scorpio it's 2 fractions more heavy...

The older one had the same problem a while ago, but after replacing the 20 amp fuse of the ignition timing (according to the scemes), it worked properly..! Beats me......

The fuse of my newest Scorpio is good though, so i was thinking of a broken wire somewhere.. perhaps?

Thanks :)

Welcome Rémy,
Only the 24v have the speed sensitive steering.
Check that a lower spec replacement isn't fitted instead at some time previously.
Also PAS fluid level is ok.

Change the fluid would be an idea.. thnx.

Level is ok (ofcourse  :P), but you don't know me so ok.. level check of fluids is one of the first things you should do after buying a car :)

Did have some wiring problems with my other Scorp, also some snapped cables on plugs so yeah, i'll check.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Is there a topic where you can show your Scorpio?

We don't have a specific place but I suggest you use Off Topics. Pleas keep any pictures to 640 x 480 or smaller.  :)

btw, does anybody know how to learn an original remote? :-/

Read something about pushing the unlock button and then open the door with the key, within 10 seconds?
Did that, doesn't work though (yes, new battery)
