Title: Cosworth BOA
Post by lotuselanman on Jan 26th, 2013, 3:06am
Gidday,
First time on this sight.
I am in need of advice and information.
I have a pair of BOA's which are like hens teeth here in Australia.
I have stripped one and the other as a backup.
#1 : Where can I get a Workshop manual either new or used.?
# 2 : Parts suppliers, I will do rings valves bearings etc as all appears well with the engine.
# 3 : More power would be nice, cam grinds, extractors, no pollution gear and a Megasquirt EMS to control it.
# 4 : Will the BOB inlet plenum fit ?
# 5 : Any weaknesses in the engine such as Oil pump etc ?
# 6 : The engine is going into a 4x4 Sierra and will be a race car only.
# 7 : Polite advice appreciated.
Thanks, Les.

This is the wrong site for you - only BOB's were fitted to our Scorpios.

You'd be best trying a Granada site or Ford Power.

Regards.

Les,
Take a look on YouTube and search on 'Ford BOA' - there are a number of clips showing a rebuild of this engine which may be of use to you.
For parts try Burton Power https://www.burtonpower.com/ - they are UK based but will probably ship parts abroad.
Don't be tempted to use a Type 9 gearbox with this engine as it won't last very long, MT75 is much stronger.

Hi Les

You need this site

http://www.fordpower.org.uk/forum2/index.php

but

1. Ebay is a good source, look for the technical service training book but Dave's post here is the same manual http://www.fordpower.org.uk/forum2/index.php/topic,1076.0.html

2. Rings are just standard 2.9 items, burton power do them for around £120 a set

3. Fit bob cams and vauxhall vectra v6 injectors, will be really good if you can fix mega squirt or another tunable ECU

4. its not a direct fit but there's a chap on ford power that has/ can make an adapter plate

5. standard plenum is restrictive, bottoms ends go if revved over 7000 rpm without girdles etc

6. standard 2.9 bell housing bolts straight up. plus a 2.9 RDW hybrid box can be easily made it using the MT75 boxes

7. get over to the link above, its the best place for info and guides on this engine, huge amounts of info on it. free to join
