Still have original bulbs, do they give out less light as they get older. What should I replace them with.

Osram Nightbreakers

Careful where you get them from - lots of fakes around.

The sensitivity of the retina to light decreases with age.

A year or so ago my uncle, now into his 80's, announced he was not going drive in the dark anymore.

I also have noticed as I get older how it's more difficult to see at night. Noticably been coming on in recent years.

Thanks for advice and help, have ordered the suggested bulbs, it was commented at the last MOT that they were dull.  Will look inside as suggested.  As I am 78, a young 78, i might add it could be due to that but my Son says they are definitely below par.  Will let you all know how I get on, much appreciate the advice and help

i find driving at night in areas with no street lighting a real pain . Not because of poor sight but more to with new/modern cars , headlights on these cars seem way to bright , its like theyre on high beem permantly , they leave white spots in your eyes when theyve passed . Is there a law as to how bright car headlights have to be ?

Right, the short answer to your question is YES .
If you want the definitive answer suggest THIS (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/contents/made) for some night time light reading ;D

Hi,  Having obtained the bulbs I had a go at fitting, can someone help how does the clip come off  to get the bulb out?  Tried all the usual ways and nothing moved?
Hope for help.

I'll have another go from the drawing it appears that it swings to the right, I thought it would go down.  This drawing seemed clearer than the manual.  many thanks.  Raymond

Hi Changed bulbs, much better.  In one of the replies it referred to flipping the fron t glass out for cleaning, how easy is it to do this and do you have to use a sealent when replacing as the rubber is probably hard by now.  Also how do you adjust direction, the manual says leave it to a garage!!!!
Many thanks,

Raymond

This should help -

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/headglass.htm

Although when I did this had to loosen the whole unit's mounting screws (do not remove completely!) to make more room because it's pressed up against the wing.

Also be careful the clips don't break.

Right EVENTUALLY found this

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/electrical/exterior/Headlampsalign.pdf

Two white plastic screws with hollow hexagon heads, inboard does up - down, outboard does left - right. 10mm ring spanner fits nicely.

Warning - turn by VERY small increments only!
