Title: 7000 stereo, security led flashing, wont turn on
Post by Erich_Honecker on Jul 6th, 2013, 10:37pm
Hi

My 7000 stereo, has the security led flashing with the panel removed, it wont turn on at all, panel fitted. Nothing on the display.

Any tips? Only found out that it won't power up after loosening the wood effect trim to get the serialnumber for the unlock software ???

Contacts clean? Are you sure it is pushed right home ontil it clicks ? Mine does the same even if it is only a fraction out.

I shall try cleaning the contacts, thanks,  should there not be something showing on the display even with the the panel removed or not contacting properly? Right now the display shows nothing :(

No display with the panel out.
You can short 2 pins (top and bottom at right end if I remember correctly) to make it come on without the panel, I'll check later which ones.

So much for memory.
Top & bottom contacts on the left but only works with the ignition on - I or II

Thanks for that.
Keeping the front panel forced into the unit allowed me to get the code in and test the stereo, all 100%, unfortunately the panel although clips on, does not provide a good connection for the stereo to power up without being held under pressure :( Trying to find a fix

Hi I think you will find that the panel tends to bow with time and so the contacts do not make contact unless you push the centre of the panel in.

You can buy new panels on ebay for a couple of pounds.

That is one of them. Hope this helps. Andy

Mine was the same, I just built up the slot in the end of the panel with araldite - so it latched further in.

Some tape works just as well and use some blue tack to jam it in.

Oh and don't bother taking the security panel out. - theives will take the stereos regardless as replacement panels are only a couple of quid on ebay.
