Title: One shot window opening
Post by Glyn on Aug 24th, 2013, 11:59pm
Aquired 2nd 1995 24v a year ago -ABS now repaired and car is great, but I have never been able to activate one shot closing on the drivers door.
Was it standard on all models, was it dropped, or do I have a faulty door module ? Opening is fine.

Press the window down button and hold for a further 3seconds after the window has open, do the same on the " UP"  just needs resetting methinks. Hope so.

Aunty is a '95 Ultima, and it only had the one-shot down window.   But 'movvy' is a '98 Ultima and surprisingly has one shot down all windows, and one shot up both front windows.   The one shots work from all switches on the drivers door, and for the up work from the drivers door and on the passenger front door.   Both cars have global opening and closing including electric roof.

??? Tried that Snoopy , thats why I wondered if there were different cards.
Thanks Peter, now I'm more confused. It has global open/close and one shot opening on all windows from the drivers door and front passenger from that door but no one shot closing on any window !!

hi when I had to reset mine went like this. hold drivers side down button  until fully open keep holding button for a few seconds more. then hold close button until fully closed and continue holding for a few secs. should do the trick.  passenger side only opens one touch doesn't close one touch

Aye Gost, I've never come across another Ultima that closes one-touch on the passenger-side like mine does.   It closes one-touch from the drivers-door and the passenger-door, very weird.   But I was told by a Belgian visitor that he had the same on his 1997 Ultima, and he'd fitted it by getting the door innards from a right-drive car.   I'm not electrically minded, so I'm not sure why mine works like it does.

Gost I have tried it but still only opening
Peter I have not heard of one like yours either. When I program the others, after about 2-3 seconds of holding the button after the window has reached the end of its travel, there is a click from the door that sounds as though a relay closes. There is no sound from this one.
I wondered whether there were different modules produced but your eperience suggests that it was still in evidence in 1998.
I was hoping someone could tell me if different modules were produced, whether all the programming is within the door module or whether it has anything to do with the EECV in which case perhaps an owner of an FDS2000 could enlighten us about the capabilities.

My car’s a 97 but had another drivers door fitted presumably from an earlier car. It only had one shot down.
I fitted another door module I bought off ebay & that made it one shot up as well, so the programming would appear to be in the door module.

Ah, thanks for that Tompion, did you happen to notice if there seemed to be a difference in the two modules ?

No I can't remember as it was a couple of years ago although I think they looked the same.

The first few early Scorpio funeral vehicles I had,ie 'N'reg just had a small brown module resembling a relay in the drivers door, and as I remember it was one touch down, but may have been up as well. All the later cars of course had the big module. When I retired I kept one limousine,a 'V' reg late built 2.3 with a propane conversion, this has one touch up and down on the drivers window only, the other five have one touch down only, just as well on a publicly used hire vehicle.

Thanks for that Gozz, the instructions on the main site seem to imply one shoy up and down were the norm and failure to program goes to "replace door module".

Gozz. I think you may have answered a long standing query. ;) A 'brown relay', number 30 'Trip Switch-Window,listed as being in the drivers door, has often been sought in relation to window problems. As far as I can recall no one has ever found one! I guess therefore that clearly such a thing did/does exist but was perhaps superseded in later models.  :)

FWIW, ditto '95 Executive, N reg. I think the N reg's never did have one shot up. And yes I have tried 'reprogramming' to get one shot up, does nowt.

Mike, both my Ultima's that do one shot closing are N reg - so is the 24v that doesn't!

My N reg Scorpio HAD one shot up on the drivers window and global closing with the exception of the sunroof.

So it's the Exec doesn't also...

Well, an update out of interest.
Trawling through the specs on the main site and the changes I found that the basic models of '94/'95 are said to have "one shot opening on the driver's side."
Further down we see "by 1997 the Ghia had become the base model" and "noted one shot opening on drivers and passenger windows . One shot closing on driver's window."
The build date of the one without one shot closing was June '95 wheras the two with one shot drivers closing were built in August and October '95. The earlier one is also fitted with an earlier style radio although has the cd changer.
It would appear that the modules changed in '95.
I have changed the door module for a '97 version and now have the one shot closing as well.! (thanks to Adam  :) )
Happy with this one now. Next to tackle loss of electrics to drivers door module on the other cossie.
Thanks to all for your help.
