Hi,
for 1st time had to call out rescue - 2 miles from home ::)

Got coolant loss in the short large hose that turns about 90 degrees as it leaves/enters the pump. It's a split where the hose goes onto the pump. Tried to push the hose onto the pump a bit more - just made it worse.

I might have a spare but would prefer to have new hose. Any idea where I can get one as I seem to recall they might be discontinued? Also, any idea what it's really called or even it's FINIS? I looked on the site HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/leaks.htm) but the diagram for the Cosworth doesn't show the part but I think the diagram for the Cologne engine indicates part '2' where it joins at point 8.

If you go down a bit more to the picture of the Cossie top end,your hose may be 24 which is attached to the horrible thermostat.

Are you talking about item 12 in the illustration further down the page titled Cosworth 24v cylinder heads ?

Is that the one connected to the thermostat?

Not cheap for a full set but they may be willing to supply just a single hose...although if you intend to keep the car a long time it might make sense to go the whole hog - at least you would never have to worry about hoses again.

I got mine from http://www.fordpartsuk.com/ just asked for a "waterpump to thermostat 90 degree hose" and they sent me a diagram to confirm the part I wanted. Was about £15 I recall.

Ford uk have 1 hose to the thermostat housing not sure which one though.

That's the 1, Andy (same quote I got) but I got it cheaper at local FMD :o because you also have to add £4 p&p at FPUK.

Drove the car 300yds to my garage with no coolant - engine was still cold.
Will be replacing hose soon. It looks fairly straightforward - unless someone tells me otherwise.
Will also replace the large top hose which is showing signs of wear.

It's easy enough to replace - just remove the air con belt, the belt tensioner and the 4 bolts securing the air con pump bracket to the block so you can slide it out of the way. You usually have to cut the old hose off as it welds itself to the pump/thermostat.

Shouldn't be any more than a couple of hours labour at any half competent garage.

Which way do you turn the bolt that holds the tensioner for the waterpump, alternator and steering pump belt on the 24v please? mine seems to be stuck lol.
