Title: abs sensor rear (on the inside of rim)
Post by blackcos on Aug 17th, 2014, 11:28am
hello everyone was wondering what this is? i think it could be the abs sensor ?!?! or something else? They are on both rims left and right and only on the rear wheels.

It appears to be a sensor & sensor ring (ring fitted to the wheel).

It's an aftermarket item. I wouldn't have thought it can be patched into the existing ABS or TCS as it appears to have a lot more segments than the standard sensor ring on the front wheels which I'd imagine would cause an ABS fault due to the wheels being reported as travelling at different speeds.

See if you can read what's written on the black box (can't read it in your picture) and look it up on the net.
I assume you haven't any non standard displays in the car.

That's after market traction control.  If you look at the throttle cable connection to the throttle body in the engine bay there should be a small motor connected there - unless you have cruise control as sometimes they splice into that control unit instead.

I found out that the sensor were from an old blaupunkt navigation system. one of the very first.
