Recently I get petrol fumes in the car, more noticeable when the tank is more than three quarters full, anyone had a similar problem and how was it resolved.

They are prone to the fuel tank corroding around the filler pipe thus a smelly seepage occurs,if you pull out the plastic wheelarch protector it can easily be seen.

Also check the seam around the tank where the 2 halves are joined - another place where they can rust and seep / leak...only cure is to replace the tank.

Another place where problems arise is at the top of the tank.Due to the shape of tank water can sit at the lower section of shaping causing pinprick perforations , this allows fumes out particulary when tank is approx 3/4 full. I have suffered from thi and had to replace tank.

Just a thought.

When you release the petrol cap do you hear a hissing noise, if yes does that mean there is no leak at the Tank?

Check for fuel leaks around the petrol filter. the Ford Couplings do fail. In fact I would check all the fuel line couplings. I have had them fail in the engine bay as well. I removed the Ford couplings and replaced them using proper Jubilee clips, not the new style Jubilee clips that are flimsy and weak meaning you can't tighten em up properly. Make sure, mind you, that you don't crush the fuel line.
