Hi I am not clued up on the focus but if the battery light is on could water have gotten into the alternator? This could upset the dashboard as could water in the fusebox or connections.
I would check that the alternator was charging the battery first and then fuses maybe?

Have a look at This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOp33H6-Lv4) Found as a result of a Google search.  :) One clip is specifically about driving through deep water!. ::)

It also seems that they have a problem with condensation on the pcb of the intrument cluster which has been cured by taking off the plugs and using wd 40 or contact cleaner on the plugs and pcb pins.

Thanks Andy, the alternator is charging battery, well over 14v engine running,  Simmo Thanks for tip about google, there is a whole world of info out there! very usefull, but while i'm here, can anyone recomend an engine code reader/ reset device please? i need to reset engine light,
i think it came on because oil low! but maybe the flood water i got caught in, with engine running clockwise and in sideways water has been thrown up against the bulkhead off the drive belt. and round inside the bonnet, water was deeper than it looked even though it was running downhill! cheers Bob
