Title: Swimming pool in back n/s footwell.
Post by a900one on Nov 10th, 2014, 9:49pm
Its a granada scorpio, all but the same body shell. The rear footwell fills up with rain water, have checked the door seals, front and rear, and it looks like its not getting in there. Put new tape over roof rack holes, so not coming in there. Looked under back seat, all dry,as seems to be front footwell. If the sunroof was leaking could it come down the pillar between doors?,drains seem clear.

Has it got a sun roof? If so check the drains from the rear corners they run across the roof and down the back pillar from what I remember

Yes it has a sun roof, can you see where the drains come out. I am now thinking it may be the back window leaking but I would have thought under the back seat would be wet, if that was the case. In this weather it is filling up very quickly. :o :o

Fairly sure the sunroof has 4 drainage pipes - one at each corner of the sunroof 'pan'.
The rear 2 should exit behind the rear wheels via holes in the boot floor behind the interior trim panels and could possibly be blocked. If you feel up behind the rear bumper at the sides you may be able to find them.
The front 2 drain into the sills - great idea Ford - this rots the sills from the inside and if the sill drains are blocked you end up with wet carpets and since the rear foot wells are lower than the front, rainwater will end up there.

I used to use a length of spring curtain wire, the plastic covered stuff and seal one end with a bit of heat shrink and feed it through the drains. Do NOT use too much force as it is possible to puncture the pipes so I understand but that will make sure they are clear. They are situated at the four corners of the sun roof

Try taking the rear door cards off. If the doors are damp inside it could be coming in through the doors. The plastic sheet should keep it out but it could be damaged or badly installed/re-fitted.
Good luck,
Graham

I don’t know about the Granada Scorpio but on my Granada hatchback the rear sunroof drains come out at the top near the hinges – the water runs down the outsides of the tailgate seal.

It'll be the sunroof drains - had the same issue in my old Sierra.  In that case the corners of the roof inner skin had completely rotted out.

Drop the roof lining at the rear and have a squint.

Had part of boot trim out and found sunroof drain on that side, it was blocked but all was dry, got vax on it and checked it was .all clear. It looks like I can give arm bands back now ;D ;D
