Title: BOB 96 Cosworth starting problems
Post by Erich_Honecker on Aug 29th, 2015, 3:27am
Hey

My Scorpio Cosworth BOB won't start. The fuel pump was faulty, so I've changed that, can hear it prime now and hear fuel in the engine bay, the pats seems ok, light goes off, starter turns but engine doesnt fire. Electrics seem ok, everything works normally. Car is stored in kent, can anyone nearby help?
I've got it running off a can of easy start but it won't run on its own, it almost catches fire on the easy start, I need help with it now before something bad happens.

I will likely scrap it if I can't get it to run.

Thanks in advance!!

If it runs on easy start it sounds a lot like it has fuel starvation. I would be looking at the fuel pump relay and or fuse.
Can you hear the pump running when you turn the ignition on as it primes the system.

The scorpio has a cutout switch in the boot for the pump. Might be that.

Thanks for the replies. I've changed the pump, the pump primes when ignition is on, cut off switch has been reset. Fuel is coming into the engine fuel lines.

Have you checked the wiring to the injectors ?
Could be the old problem with the insulation breaking up on the fuel cut-off loom.

With the easy start you are introducing a fuel source directly into the air going into the cylinders but maybe the injectors are not working ?

I've got the car stored away from where I currently am, I can't check it right now, but its probably wiring which I can't fix. If someone can help take a look please let me know, else expect to see it in the for sale section soon!
