Title: Re: Cosworth non starter Post by Simmo on Feb 20th, 2016, 4:43pm Battery issue?. This can and does happen if a cell goes down or if the alternator is not putting enough in to keep it charged up. Do you do a lot of short runs. Try jump starting it or charging the battery overnight and see what the result is. These cars require a lot of power to start even though they do turn over. A simple cheap batter/alternator tester is invaluable for problems like this. Let us know how you get on. ;) Fault Finder (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) |

Title: Re: Cosworth non starter Post by Scorpio_Mike on Feb 20th, 2016, 7:47pm Have you got fuel pressure ? Can you hear the fuel pump running ? Have you got a spark at the plugs ? Check the wiring to the coil packs as the insulation has a reputation for breaking up and causing all sorts of ignition problems. |

Title: Re: Cosworth non starter Post by dcgiw2009 on Feb 21st, 2016, 3:25pm where is the fuel cut off switch? |
||
Title: Re: Cosworth non starter Post by Simmo on Feb 21st, 2016, 4:01pm In the boot panel. Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/fuel/general/FuelShutOff.pdf) It is designed to cut off the fuel supply if you are involved in a prang. It is set off by impact so unless you have been banging around there it is an unlikely cause. :) |

Title: Re: Cosworth non starter Post by a900one on Feb 21st, 2016, 6:37pm I had a problem with the switch in my Granada Scorpio, water and dirt got in it over the years and cut the pump off. I had to remove it and cleaned it with WD40, other products are available ;D ;D, I think I just kept working it to clean the contacts. |
