I can answer my own question; By removing the dash. which I have just done.

The cigar lighter bulb was loose so I have re-connected it, the bulb is blown but I don't think that that would cause my Lights to play up but as the holder was flopping about it may have caused a short causing the Lights to  play up etc  :-/.

I think that all I can do is re-assemble everything, re-connect the Bty and see what happens.  I am nervous about connecting the Light Switch and then re-connecting the Bty without re-placing the Dash as everything that is attached to the Dashboard is disconnected.  :-X :-/ :-X ??? ???

The bulb may also have blown because of the wiring being shorted. I suspect you have found the culprit. ;)

Yipppiiieeeee!!  ;D  :D

I did connect the Bty and tried the Lights and all worked as they should. Then I replaced the Dash - the grey flat Multiplug connection is a real PIG - and all is as should be. I am dead chuffed

Well done Mike. Great news. Removing the dash is certainly not a job to be relished!! ;) Glad you are sorted.

Thank you Simmo.

The hardest part is re-attaching the grey ribbon connection and as the A/C has a mind of it's own (the pump failed, my wife hates A/C so I have no A/C):  The heater works as it feels like; it will oscillate from working to not working, then I have to turn the control knob on and off till it works again - the Temp setting reads again  :(.  Its the same scenario on my other Scorpio.  Anyway,  to get back to what I was saying: I had hoped that when all was back together again the problem would have gone away.  No such luck.

So there we are, but I am so chuffed that the lights are all up and running as they should  ;D 8)
