Title: gives sobs when accelerate after slowing
Post by camilo on May 12th, 2016, 2:35am
Hi. I have a 24V Cosworth Ultima. When I drive up 80km/h it gives sobs when acelerate after slowing. But, when it comes to 70km/h, it acelerates normally. The gearbox oil level is full. I am concerned about this because I am afraid my gearbox is failed and it will be a problem to solve here in Portugal. Can anyone give a suggestion please? Thanks

Welcome Camilo. The first thing to do is to Clean the MAF (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm) as this is often the cause of such problems. :)

Thank's Simmo.
I went to the mechanic yesterday and cleaned the sensor but still the same. When it happens the engine speed does not increase and remain as if not accelerate and suddenly accelerates and decelerates repeatedly.

I think that after slowing when the gearbox is on fourth gear it can't reduce to third gear and needs to get the second gear to accelerate normally.  Is this happen to someone?

Today on a highway I was about 100km/h it gave sobs when I acelerate after slowing and continued until near 150km/h. So I was confused because at this speed would be in fourth gear. Returned to normal when it came to about 70km/h.

When you look into the MAF, you should see a couple of bits of wire like 'fuse-wire' or internals of a bulb.   These bits of wire should be completely free of any 'muck' except for a couple of bulbous looking bits near the centre.   Perhaps even the MAF has had it's day.
