Title: Water Pump dripping water Post by Paul-Minter on Jun 16th, 2016, 3:36pm My water pump has developed a leak on my 24v scorpio, it is dripping water and its not from the hoses, does that mean a new water pump or can it be repaired? :'( regards Paul Minter |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by a900one on Jun 16th, 2016, 5:41pm I would think it is a new pump required. There are some on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311169198262?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I think that is the right one. You may want a gasket. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281018905041?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |

Wrong pump - that's for the 12v. Right gasket though. You can't get 24v pumps anymore - so it's either taking your chance with a 2nd hand pump if someone has one (Spikes has one at £195) or find a local engineering place that can press the old bearings out and press new bearings in. |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by a900one on Jun 16th, 2016, 9:41pm Yep you are right, sorry, that is a 12v. What if you take the seal and bearing out of the 12v and put in the 24v, thats if the shaft and housing are the same. just had another look at ebay and found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-SCORPIO-II-GFR-GGR-2-9-i-24V-1994-10-1998-08-BOB-152kW-WATER-PUMP-/281812251454?fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AScorpio&hash=item419d51b33e:g:R4YAAOSwKIpWCWDv whats that fit, a boa?. |

Not all boa pumps have the same shaft size - it's luck if the draw. No problem on ebay though - just keep returning them until you find the right one - you'll just lose out on some postage costs - still cheaper than a proper BOB pump though! Downside is car is off the road until you get it sorted. Quote:
Yeah, that's a BOA pump as well. BOB pumps have the pipe exiting horizontally, BOA pumps have the pipe exiting at a downward slant. This is a BOB pump:- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v25/amigafan2003/IMAG02071_zpse6090398.jpg Notice there is no rectangular hole on the rear of a BOB pump either:- http://www.burtonpower.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/1800x/a95d7b8880fc545ed6436fc62ecd22eb/E/P/EPW01-2.jpg |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Simmo on Jun 17th, 2016, 6:24am You might like to have a look at This article from How to do Things (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=admin;action=display;num=1330854351) ;) |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Paul-Minter on Jun 18th, 2016, 4:22pm Thank Amigafan you for showing me what the BOB water pump looks like, Burton Power are local to me. I think I will go for the £50 one that a900one showed me, even though there are a couple of other suppliers. Many thanks for your input guys, I am certainly learning a lot lately, I am interested to know what BOB and BOA stands for? |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Simmo on Jun 18th, 2016, 5:23pm Have a read of This article (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/24valve.htm) and see if that helps. ;) |

So you're going swap the bearing/spindle from the new pump to your existing one? The ones a900 linked are all BOA pumps and wont fit the 24v in the Scorpio. Quote:
It's just the engine code - BOA engines were 195bhp, simple chain and fitted to the mk3 Granadas. BOB is the 207bhp, dual chain engine fitted to our Scorpios. Article discussing the differences between BOA and BOB engines (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/24valve.htm) |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Paul-Minter on Jun 18th, 2016, 7:59pm Many thanks, very clear now regarding the differences of BOA and BOB. Regarding the water pump I will not be doing any modifications to the water pump. On ebay there is a supplier called 'click4carparts' that I shall be talking to they can supply new at £53. Best regards Paul |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Snoopy on Jun 19th, 2016, 7:33am I seem to remember Dave up in Scotland offering to fit new bearings for the shaft on the BOB pumps I will see if I can find the post. I seem to recall he was offering and exchange service for a modest fee! After reading his last post on the problem of water pumps he has stopped doing them. Have read of his posts and advice HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Advice;action=display;num=1340533014;start=43#43) If you get stuck it might be worth asking!!!!!!!!! |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Scorpabilly on Jun 24th, 2016, 7:03pm I have a BOB pump spare. I got it a long time ago when I got my 1st 24valve and it's sat in my garage ever since. I was told then that it had been fitted and only done a few hundred miles before being removed. Doesn't have any play and turns freely. Has a bit of surface rust on the front of the spindle. I can't see how to post pictures here so pm me an e-mail address and I'll send a couple. Open to offers |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Simmo on Jun 24th, 2016, 7:07pm Good to see you are still around Scorpabilly! I thought you'd got rid of all your Scorpio spares long ago. Well remember your visit to Badgers Mount. Best wishes, Mike. :) ;D |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Scorpabilly on Jun 24th, 2016, 7:39pm Still around Mike but slumming it in a V6 Mondeo. Love another Scorp but can't see it happening with them being so scarce and I've got too many toys and projects. Dave (Tompion) took most of the parts I had and I think he is intending to get the rest (which is mostly junk). I just kept a few 24v bits aside inc the water pump, a thermostat and a throttle body. Hope we might meet up again one day |

Title: Re: Water Pump dripping water Post by Simmo on Jun 24th, 2016, 7:53pm It would be a pleasure. In the light of diminishing numbers Pegasus (Paul) Dave (Tompion) and I usually meet up as 'The last of the Summer Wine' group. All old boys together! ;D |
