Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by Nunnspoet on Mar 24th, 2017, 8:30am Is the AC pump seizing up? If so it will cause a real drag on the engine (I know) causing a huge increase in fuel consumption. If your pride and joy is a 24 valve just take the drive belt off the Pump, easily done. Mike |

Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by pipino on Apr 28th, 2017, 4:06pm The problem on my car ac now is that the component (variable resistor) that control the blower speed located on top of the fan blower in the bonnet get bad too soon, you can imaging I hve change that component about 4 times withing a month am worried over it can any body help??????????? >:( |

Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by Glyn on May 13th, 2017, 12:57am When the a/c is on the fans operate at low speed to cool the a/c gas. At the same time they are cooling the engine coolant. the fans start and stop automatically as required. With the a/c off and normal running the fans do not operate until the engine coolant temperature rises above normal (on my cars when the needle is almost out of the top of the normal range), then the fans start on low speed until cooling is sufficient. If the temperature goes into the red then the fans operate at high speed. |

Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by Nunnspoet on Jul 6th, 2017, 8:21am Good morning pipino. It is far too beautiful a morning for somebody to be so frustrated. I have 2 Scorpios and very often the cc will decide to play up and I have to turn the knobs on and off to get the response I want. It is so annoying and I expect the cause could be that the knurls on the knobs have got a bit greasy over the years. It could be that the cc panel on the dashboard needs to be removed and the back of the knobs given a good squirt with Electric Cleaner, turning the knobs through their travel range at the same time, hopefully to ensure that the cleaner gets everywhere. It is probably best to remove the whole of the dashboard panel in order to access the problem area, doing the job this way means that you won't necessarily have to take off the black cc panel as it is a pain. If you decide to remove the cc control panel take care when using a flat blade to ease it out so that you don't damage the dashboard. There is a flat multiplug joining the cc panel that is held in place by two side clips, they will unclip easily enough, however be carefull when pluging it back in: don't force anything, lining-up the two halves is tricky but with patience you will get there, then slide the securing clips up and over the top of the plug and they will click gently into position. Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by pipino on Jul 26th, 2017, 5:53am @nunnspoet thanks for the advice but my car ac still work like when I turn ignition on my blower comes on at low speed, when I start the car the ac button comes on and the car ac start working, when I turn the knob to highest the blower goes highest and when I turn it back to off the blower goes lower and won't go off, when I press the ac button the compressor goes off but blower still on at a very low speed and that's how I drive around town with my blower on. I can't even do a reset since the blower comes on when ignition is on, and I have carried out several test on the HBC but working fine, is there any parts to change sir???? |

Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by Scorpio_Mike on Jul 26th, 2017, 8:01am On the Scorpio I had - 2.3 Ultima - The A/C was on by default when you started the car up and the fan was always on low speed. If I didn't want the A/C on it had to be switched off manually. |

Title: Re: AC PROBLEM Post by Tompion on Aug 8th, 2017, 8:22pm It's the Manual system where the blower will stay on (depending on other settings). With climate control the cabin fan should stop when the control is set to off. The problem could be with the rotary variable resistor & may be fixed as mentioned earlier by spraying with switch cleaner directly into the variable resistor (it can't be done from the front you need to remove the panel. On other occasions when a reset has not been possible the problem has been with the climate control module that the panel connects to via the ribbon cable. Make sure the ignition is off before working on it - I believe the module can get spiked if connected live. |
