Title: Brake bleed screws
Post by Pegasus on May 2nd, 2017, 6:36pm
Went to change the brake fluid today - something I've done several times. But the 1st 1 (FNS) brake bleed nipple just sheared off. >:(  Going to have to get my friendly garage to do it for me now :-[

Anyone know if replacements are available and what size they are (M10s?).

I've noticed it's getting harder to do these simple jobs cos of seizure :(

I would think most garages would have a few spare bleed nipples in various sizes.
Hope they can get it out for you.

Are you sure it needs changing, I bought a brake fluid tester  http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-brake-fluid-tester-4875 Its cheaper somewhere else I just cant find where  ???. . Are you going to get them to replace it or are you going to drill it out. Cheaper at amazon.

They think they can drill it out (hope they can!). Asked me about spares in case they didn't have any.

Every time I change the oil, or do ANY servicing on mine, I always 'crack' the brake nipples.   And make sure there's grease around them to prevent further corrosion, and dust-caps in place.   Prevention rather than cure.

Few days ago I physically discovered there is water content in my break fluid  and I changed the fluid by removing fluid reservoir, pure away the old fluid and before fixing it back I depressed the brake pedal so that I can realize the remaining content in the pipe through the nipple which I did and after replacing the reservoir I refill with new break fluid and bead the air in the pip out through the nipple since then when I apply my break pedal slowly while on motion only the back break function the front break wont function unless I apply the break suddenly hard before the front will function and that's my experience for the past few days and I took it to a garage where repair was done on the master break rubber replacement still experience same is this a fault from my abs??

It sounds as if you have not bled the brakes correctly. Read This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/brake/BrakeFluid.pdf). Note that you should bleed the front brakes AND, experience says, keep the jar of fluid ABOVE the nipple whilst you are bleeding the fluid. Follow the instructions precisely.

The Brakes manual is Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/brakesmanual.htm)
