Title: CD Multichanger Error Code 5
Post by brds on Jul 22nd, 2017, 1:16pm
Car has been on SORN for 3 years so CD not used. I'm now getting a CD Multichanger Error Code 5 and the cartridge would only eject by sticking a small nail in the hole adjacent to the wiring socket.
Took the unit apart, cleaned as many moving parts as possible and applied new lithium grease.
Mechanism now working sufficiently to eject the cartridge OK but it does not cycle the CDs correctly upon initial insertion and I still have the Error Code 5.
Is this fixable or should I look for a replacement?

I'm sure I have a couple of CD changers around in my spares if you need one.

brds. Have a look at This (http://www.teamclarion.com/sharedwebdbs/clarionsupport.nsf/WebCategorizedView/84D99273157A4B6B882572170058C61B?OpenDocument) and see if it helps. Seems the code is generic rather than specific. Let us know how you get on as personally I've never seen this fault mentioned before. :)

I tried disconnecting the battery (again) to ensure a complete reset. Unit tries to cycle the CDs upon insertion but cannot spin them. Comes up with 'Check Disc' or 'Error Code 5' or 'Check Discs' (I made sure they are in the right way up).
Mike, I'd like to take up your offer, I'll PM my details in case you've lost them.
Many thanks for prompt replies guys.
Bob.

Thanks for link. I read it and it confirms what I'm seeing with the cover still off. CD's get loaded but do not spin so it looks like the motor and/or controller are faulty. I'm not going to spend any more time on it as Mike has very kindly offered to let me have a replacement.
Bob.
