Here goes:

History: For years the door locks would not operate properly in that I could lock and open the car happily using the Key fob but the keys would only lock the doors. When the car was left for days on end the Fob would not operate, which is normal. So to gain entry and luckily I could always gain entry through the Tailgate using the Key. However upon opening the front door to gain entry the alarm went off so it was a case of turning it off asap to keep the neighbours happy. Not entirely the best scenario!

So, I presented this problem along with others to a Ford trained Electrician. I won't expand on that at present restricting myself to the Programming problem. Now I can only lock and unlock the car by using the key in the drivers side front door. I have tried to programme 3 good (programmable fobs on my other Cossie) fobs to no avail. I have followed the correct procedure. The first "bing" is good, upon pressing the unlock (or for that matter any other key on the fob) no "bing" then after after a few seconds there is the final "bing" which should mean that the Fob is now programmed, but it ain't >:(. Same with the Seats!

Therefore having aired my problems to all my fellow Scorpio enthusiasts, who know a lot more than me, I await, with baited breath and key fob in hand, your advice.

I would look to the fob itself for the problem.... I seem to remember a long, long time agi I had a similar problem when trying to programme my two keys..... I cleaned the contacts etc on the fobs and replaced the batteries. I think I also did a car reset by disconnecting the battery but cannot be sure on that one.
I was then able to programme BOTH the keys I had to the scorpio.

I know the method I used was different at the time to the one posted on the main web pages but it was the method you appear to be using.

Help my car key and the remote lock I noticed few days ago that it wont lock twice, that's the high security lock that will no allow the car to be opened from inside

Mike, what has changed to allow the key to unlock the driver's door lock when it wouldn't before?
Usually the inability to unlock with the key is due to a worn door lock although the key will usually lock the doors, as will any other similar Ford key. If it won't move to the unlock position it will not double lock the doors.
Does the alarm still set?

I'd be looking at all the connections to the doors and locks, and the little 'buttons' that operate the interior lights, and the 'bonnet-open' button under the bonnet. These all get rusty and worn and won't allow the car to close and lock properly.
