Hi Folks

My car failed its MOT the other day for one reason only - the horn would not work. Very annoying!

I've looked at some earlier messages on this site about horns but wonder if anyone has any further comments. I'm not really experienced enough to do very much on the car but I've changed the fuse and checked the connections on the horn itself and they seem to be ok and there's no obvious damage. I've located the relay and was wondering if it was worth changing it. If so, is this something I can get from Halfords or is there a better place to go?

I know it's going to be a good idea to take the steering wheel horn cover off to check under there but I've no idea how to go about this.

Any thoughts please? Thanks all.

The horn is of course operated via the air bag module and the removal instructions are Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/airbags/abdriver.pdf) To turn the steering wheel it is helpful to jack up the front of the car, enough to take the weight off the wheels, or place something under the tyres so that they can move easily. Wet grass, gravel, plastic bags have all been used!

Before you do any of that have you applied voltage directly to the horn to see if that is defective?

Hi.

Thanks for your help. I've not yet checked that the horn works and will do so. It's very frustrating that something so annoyingly small has failed the car! Did you have any thoughts on the relay?
