Title: Drivers door window/mirror control
Post by Simmo on Feb 3rd, 2019, 4:13pm
Car has been standing, in the garage, for some while, due to wiring issues on the fans. Drivers window has been down to enable me to start occasionally when passing.
Going to the car today to start and move it out I find that the ABS light is now on and there seems to be no power to the door window switches or the mirror control.
The other three windows work from their respective switches but not from the drivers door unit. Drivers window does not operate.
Fuses 25 and 26 checked and all ok. All other functions seem to be operating correctly. Switch cleaner on switches and fuse box has achieved nothing!
:( ???

Start by doing a continuity check on the drivers door harness between the multiplug connector under the dash and the multiplug connectors in the door.

The wires do break internally from the door opening & closing.

Than you Mike. Right now the car is in the garage with Lynn's car alongside. It has been problematic starting so I am reluctant to get it out and switch it off! When she goes out I'll try and do as you say but right now I can't open the door wide enough to even check the door connector!! Seems strange that it has occurred when the car has not moved for weeks. Any clue as to the where this multiplug is under the dash or do you mean those under the main fuse box?

All the Fords I've worked on have the multiplug connector to the door loom under the dash just above the footwell side trims - assume you would find similar on the Scorpio.
Not sure if the black box control module is located in the door itself - possibly worth unplugging the connector and leaving it a while then reconnecting it ? Maybe the window being down for so long has affected a setting - long shot I know but anything has to be worth a try !
Hope it isn't mice that have chewed your wiring...you did mention that you had left the window open  :-[

Try cleaning the door multiplug, but you will have to have the door wide open to get at it. Make sure it is screwed in properly. The module is indeed in the door and means taking off the trim and door card to get at it.
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while to see if it resets?

Thank you Glynn. I have disconnected the battery but that has made no difference. The strange thing is all other door functions work. Puddle lights, locks so there must be a supply to it. I'll try the door plug when I get a chance.
CH boiler being changed today so that rather has the priority!! ;)

Did you start it?
Low voltage can cause ABS light to stay on & may not clear until driven.
If you didn't start it possibly too low voltage for the relay in the window controller - but unlikely that if you did start it.

Hi Dave. Car has been started many times and has been connected up to the electronic battery charger all the time so power is not the issue. I've had the door card off today and sprayed the door connector. All the wiring I can see seems to be in good condition so no idea what is causing the issue ???

Hi Mike,

Not sure what it'll tell you ::) - does global closing/opening work the window (suggest checking sunroof doesn't stick before trying opening).

Hi Tomp, no global closing doesn't work on the drivers window but it does on the others!!

Might be the door module.
Somewhere (not sure where) I've got the module that came off my saloon. Only thing is it doesn't have one shot up - which is why I changed it.

Found a module in my spares - not sure which one it is though...codes on label :

95GP-15K600DB
CENTR.CONTR.MOD.(PERIM.AL.) (CCM-)
RXRE XACA024706

3 multiplug connections on it - smaller pins on the centre connector.

Thinking about it now I'm sure I have more of the control modules around but not sure which ones.

Found mine it has 2 connectors 95GG-13C791-AF but whether modules with that number don't have one shot up or it's faulty I don't know. My saloon had a replacement door I assumed it was from an early model that perhaps only had one shot down.
Scorpio_Mike you can find that part no on ebay to see what it looks like.

95GP-15K600DB looks like a central locking control module judging by ebay.
95GG-13C791-AF also comes up on ebay as a central locking control module.

Is there a control module in each door which connects to another control module which is the main one ?

I will have a look for the others I have tomorrow weather permitting.

95GP-15K600DB is the CCM behind the glovebox & has 3 connections as you mentioned.

Just had a look but could only find a passenger door control module  :'(

Drivers door module 95GG-13C791-AA.  2 black multiconnectors.

Passenger door 95GG-13C790 ** White surrounds to multiconnectors

There are several different suffixes eg AA,  AF,  AD. Don't know what they mean.

I have, thanks to advice from Tompion, now removed the door module. The code is 96GG-13C791-AA which matches the others quoted. The main, black connector contains an Orange cable, heavier than some others, which has 12v to it. Thus it seems that power is getting to the module. The Blue connector has smaller wires to it and they seem to match the window and mirror switches. More work required but we seem to be making progress. :)
I have also noticed that on the outside of the plugs each cable is numbered. Hard to see in half light but they are there.

UPDATE. Tompion kindly sent me a door module today and I am delighted to report that once connected normal service was resumed! ;D ;D ;D ;D. I have not tested it for the finer points of one shot opening etc but essentially it has resolved the problem. ;D ;D
Thank you ...again...Dave.
