Title: heater flap motors Post by a900one on Jul 11th, 2019, 10:55am Just fitted new compressor and other bits to aircon system and had it recharged. Worked fine for a couple of days now I dont hear the air flap motors working and no cold air is coming out, aircon pipes are very cold. Have checked for a fuse blowen, but they all seem ok. This is a car fitted with climate control. Gerald |

Title: Re: heater flap motors Post by Tompion on Jul 11th, 2019, 12:02pm Have you tried a reset & checked for fault codes? You should hear the flaps cycling whilst doing it. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccreset.htm |

Title: Re: heater flap motors Post by Tompion on Jul 12th, 2019, 3:53pm If you're saying the blower is working but no air at all through the face vents it won't be a flap motor issue (unless you're getting warm/hot air). The face vent flap blends hot & cold air to the selected cabin temperature - there isn't a closed position. To stop air through the face vents you either have to turn them off manually or turn the blower off. The windscreen & foot vent flaps do have a closed position. If your problem is that the airflow through any vent drops to nothing but the blower is still running it could be the evaporator freezing up. Turn the aircon off and see if airflow gradually comes back, or a simple test when it happens would be to see if air flow is restored with the cabin filter cover open as the incoming air would bypass the evaporator. |

Title: Re: heater flap motors Post by a900one on Jul 12th, 2019, 5:59pm There was lots of air coming out but not very cold so the blower was on high speed all the time when in auto. We had the vents on perhaps all the air was coming out of them and not the other vents. |

Title: Re: heater flap motors Post by a900one on Jul 14th, 2019, 6:53pm Looks like the heat exchanger in the heater may be blocked, or the new valve I fitted may be faulty. The pipes going into the heater box get cold, the lower one is that cold my fingers stick to it, but cold air comes out for a short time, then stops, checked the filters and they are ok. |
