Title: Tailgate stuck closed.
Post by Torbayboy on Feb 20th, 2020, 5:47pm
Hi, just a quick note as a result of all the lovely weather we have had lately the tailgate on the estate stuck shut. >:(

This was really a surprise as it had been opened some 5 minutes previously to put "stuff" (a word invented by amazon for item(s) purchased from their data collection site) in the back.

True to form I went inside to persuade the car to reliquish it's grip on my "stuff" and after several thumps on the bottm of the tailgate it surrendered and opened, promptly found my patented Ford Scorpio fixing tool that I carry with me at all times (my right hand), to wiggle the 4 bunches of wires leading to the tailgate from the roof.

This proved very sucessful as it now works perfectly-job done
Ed China eat your heart out.
:) ;) :D ;D :o-still a child, at heart

Hi Roy,
I think that I would be tempted to get some electrical contact cleaner on the multiplugs, check the wires at the hinge as I have had similar problems on my saloons.
Regards
Glyn

My tailgate would not open and lamps were not working correctly. One by one, it was a developing problem. The wiring was broken in the boot. Too many openings and closing in the last 25 years...I soldered all of them and now it is working as new...
