Title: End of Life
Post by november_man on Jun 11th, 2021, 10:27am
just had a knockback on MOT test. tester jabbing about with his crowbar. there is a small area of corrosion around the rear of the offside front suspension wishbone, the area where the fuel and brake pipes do the old "S" bend bit and the cross bar is bolted. has anybody else had the same problem and is it worth carrying on giving the fact that it seems a shame to bin an otherwise decent car. I thank you !

If its OK other than that get it welded, make sure they patch it properly with a piece that fits the area ground out. If they put a "plaster" (a plate to cover the area and chain weld around the oputside, looks s**t and done by cowboys as a quick fix-also does not do the job it's just the patch gets bigger in 2 years time).

Find a local decent welder and you shuld be OK, also they should have a small tapping hammer not a crowbar to check for "corrosion" find a locak MOT statio where the guys aren,t looking for a mint car and appreciate older vehicles.

Down this way I can recommend an Mot place but dont know where you are

HTH   :)
