Title: oil light on
Post by Torbayboy on Nov 15th, 2022, 6:34pm
Never come acroos this before so need help here.

A couple of weeks ago had the oil light come on bright and constant, stopped checked level etc then restarted-still on.

Knowing the pressure is very low before the light comes on chanced it and drove home (3 miles), no clanks no smoke rattles or anything amiss, just this B  light on.

Long story short changed oil, filter (non return type) and switch, seemed OK for a while but yesterday drove 5 miles and around 4 miles light flickered, particularly over bumps in road or braking and turning, then stayed on brightly.

Not sure where we are now, as used the car again this morning and for 4 miles no problem then flicker etc and light on.

Spoken with spanner and like he said 2 switches (original and replacement) would seem to rule the switch out, starts fine no
chain rattle at all and motor sounds sweet, runs as a cos should and not one with a "blackpool lights" dash over the years (had this one a while now).

Any thoughts from people wiser than me welcome.

Still a child though  :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o

when you had the oil changed what filter did you use as there are two different ones you can get, the correct one is shorter and not so close to the exhaust pipe.  Can they check what pressure you have in the garage  you use.

Looks like the fat one was fitted, as spanner said was a tight fit to get it on.

Seems to be light on after engine fully warm, done a few short trips the other day and sure enough after 3+ miles there it was!

Lots going on at present and waiting for a gap to get spanner to fix, as we want to check oil pressure also.
