Title: Rant time
Post by Tons_of_fun on Jan 24th, 2010, 3:22pm
Just had my renewal through yesterday & to my horror it has gone up by almost £300  :o :o >:(. Bearing in mind i have been using my current insurer for the last 5 years i decided to give them a call & question why in 5 years of not making a claim have they stung me ? 'Post code rating' apparently / ? ?  :-/. Well thats a new one on me  ::) So i have spent the last 3 hours trawling the net trying to find a cheaper quote  :'( The best i have found so far is £649  :o :o :o WTF !!! Im a 38 y/o, married dad of 2 who does possibly one of the dullest jobs ever & is lucky if i cover more than 6,000 miles a year ! So what do you think is the  real reason behind the premium hikes eh ? ? More than likley it's fraudulent claims due to the credit crunch. Just wish they would be honest about it. Right then my target is to get my policy down to £400 or under  ::) Wish me luck  :)

Seems a bit steep  :o

Have you asked the Meerkats  ;D

Got mine through Hastings Direct - under £300

Oh, and good luck  ;)

Yep, I was quoted £645 TPFT for a DY4 postcode, yet my work postcode of B97 which is only 25 miles aways is £428

It's been said before that some companies just don't like the Scorpio.

I had a quote for a 24V & it was only £40 more to insure than my diesel  ???
Also had a quote for a 3L Omega & that was £80 cheaper than my diesel.

It would seem my postcode has cursed me  >:( The best i have found so far is AXA @ 470 fully comp. Looks like i'll be hitting the yellow pages this saturday  ::). So Rob. You work in the B97 postcode then. I lived in Tamworth for 9 years. Had all sorts of exotica ( Porsche 928, Overfinch Rangie ) & never had a problem with insurance. Just goes to show you how much the neighbourhood scallys have an effect eh !

Hiya Bruce. I bargained with my current insurer ( Adrian Flux )  :). Daft old me didnt bother to read ALL of the renewal notice & missed the little 'beat any like for like quote' footnote at the bottom of the page. Sooooooo....... I hit the yellow pages & found a broker who quoted me £340 for basically the same as my previous cover. I then went back to Adrian Flux who beat it by a tenner  ;). I could probably get a slightly better deal, but TBH i really cant be bothered with phoning around anymore.  ::) ;D

Yes Fully Comp, Nigh on identical to Churchill, Excess, Breakdown cover, Windscreen etc, the only difference is legal protection (£22.00) which I may take up at a later date I live in a good postal code area OX28 and have maximum no claim bonus, approx 3000 miles pa and safe parking.
