Have 2 ultima 24v 's
Both 1995 same spec, built within 3 months of each other. LV insurance wanted more than £100 more for one than the other.
When I rang up to find why I was told it was because I had been driving one for 12 years but the other "only" for 3 years and therefore I would not be as used to it therefore more liable to have an accident !!
I may be a slow learner , but I don't think I am that bad.
I pointed out that the models were identical except for colour although the difference is difficult to spot except in sunlight.
I was told that was how they calculate the premiums (one of the factors)
Needless to say I went with another company and saved £150.
Phew!

Insurance company's are notoriously fickle, fortunately we have a lot of choice. ;D

I tried without success to get axa to explain how they come up with the numbers they do. Trying over the phone is like pulling teeth ,so i emailed them instead . Got a reply a week later , the email was about a thousand words long telling me nothing , they try and baffle you with gobbledegook and nonsence , so still none the wiser , i think it should be made law that it has to be explained how and why they reach the amounts they do . Anyway i told axa to shove it , in plain anglo saxon .......i think they got the message ;D

When a idiot ran into my scorpio cosworth I took it off the road to repair it and bought a small 2004 1.1 corsa to run around and get the bits for the scorpio. The insurance company wanted to charge £100 for changing the documents and up the premium by £250 because the corsa was a newer car even though it had almost only a third of the size lol. When pushed they insisted it was not their fault but the underwriters. The insurance companies never seem to use sane logic when working out premiums.

If you search online for insurance you will find many quotes with huge differences in price but most of them are from the same underwriters so is it has to be the insurance companies adding huge mark ups on the policies to get such huge differing quotes.
