Title: Scorpio door-hinge movement.
Post by The Rooster in the Scorpio. on Jan 19th, 2011, 5:03pm
Hi to you all out there. I hope that I am not about to teach Granddads & Grannies to suck eggs.  I have just discovered that to rectify the play in the hinges on my 97 Scorpio Ultima Estate is not an expensive pair of new hinges and a Mig/Spot-Weld exercise that I was first told.
Each of the hinges has a Torqx head bolt/pin at right-angles to the hinge face, this is on the door part of the hinge assembly. A tweak with a ratchet socket spanner and the appropriate size Torqx Bit takes all of the play out of the hinge.
The simplest things in life really do have a value all of their own. Is this yet another one of the design innovations of the Scorpio?. I know that they have their issues, but what cars don't?. They really are underrated when it comes to Mercedes & BMW of the same ilk.
