Title: Diesel Injector Socket/Spanner Post by SteveO on Feb 19th, 2011, 12:28pm I need to get number 1 injector out of a 2.5 TD. I've borrowed a 27mm socket from my local garage but it's too small. Tried a 27mm ring spanner too, just in case the sock was not deep enough but same problem. Anyone know the correct size socker/spanner? Thanks, Steve |

Title: Re: What size spanner/socket? Post by SteveO on Feb 19th, 2011, 5:01pm Just back from Halfords and it looks like a 28mm job. The 27 open end wont fit so they lent me a 28 and 29 to try and it slipped on nicely. Unfortunately it was about 15" long and no room to actually move it...... |

Title: Re: What size spanner/socket? Post by Geoff_W on Feb 19th, 2011, 7:04pm Sorry for not getting back before now Steve. You can get it on one flat only with a small amount of movement but you need it to be quite an angled spanner. An injector socket may be a better bet and there are several on ebay. Ford describe it as a 23-043 wrench for injectors here http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/tdi/TDICylHeads.pdf But that as ever does not list size. Geoff |

Title: Re: What size spanner/socket? Post by SteveO on Feb 19th, 2011, 7:33pm Hello Geoff, no worries about timescales. The new Scorpio had a snapped shock spring two weeks ago and I've only just got it fixed. I'm going to try a 28mm diesel socket I found on Amazon - unless the boys at the garage have one. I'll keep in touch with progress.... Steve |

Title: Re: What size spanner/socket? Post by SteveO on Feb 21st, 2011, 11:16am Finally got the answer. I called into the local Ford garage, they brought out their own socket and measured it for me, 28mm. Ordering one now and hope to be in business by the weekend. |
