Title: Electronic Headlamp Adjusters Post by Matt on Aug 25th, 2011, 10:59am Hey All Here is a quick run down and info of parts needed and wiring needed to fit the headlamp adjusters if you do not have them! Parts Twin headlamp bezel (make sure its got the same fog light options as your car) and the rotary switch Headlight adjustment motors or the entire headlamp assembly Loom, you will need the 2 lengths of loom from each headlight and the bit of loom for the rotary switch pics of needed bits ;D http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/033.jpg http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/031.jpg http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/032.jpg If you currently dont have the system fitted its doubtful you have the motors. Dont panic though, the motors can be fitted to the standard headlight (once you have got hold of a pair of motors) :P best way is to remove the headlights from the car and strip the headlight glass off for better access and to see what you are doing Standard Headlamp http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/037.jpg http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/034.jpg You need to remove the circular bit with the tags on it, best was is to find something that fits inside the hole as turning it by the tabs normally just breaks them off once is undone you need to pop out the ball joint. http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/036.jpg This is a real pig to do without breaking something, there is a clip on the bottom side and it fits snugly in the ball cup, i found the best way to remove it was by fishing a couple of screwdrivers in, on under the clip to press the tag down and another to open the cup slightly Once out the motors should just push in and a small turn to lock them into the headlight thats the Hardest bit done, just need to reassemble the headlight now. Wiring On the left hand (near side) headlight motor connector you should have colours Purple/Yellow White Black Right hand side (off side) Purple/Blue Red/White Black Rotary switch Purple Red/White Black The black wires are all grounds so just connect them to the chassis The red/white and White wires from all 3 looms are connected together as these are the ' Location' wire from the switch The Remaining Purple wires go to a 12v supply, you could keep the wiring very simple and just run these straight to the battery via a 10A fuse, However I will be and Would recommend that you get your 12v from the headlights (maybe via a relay?) so that the system is only operational when the headlights are on http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd429/Matt24v/Scorpio%20Related/system.jpg once the wiring is sorted plug it all into the headlight and refit the unit to the car Next on the list - Headlamp Washers ;D |
