Title: Ashford, Kent
Post by Paul B on Oct 18th, 2004, 9:54pm
Well, I think I'm the only one on here from this area, but I'll list the few that I do see every now & then. You never know, someone might be watching...

M41 RKN  -  2.3 (I think) saloon in Tourmallard
P4 WLC  -  2.3 Ultima saloon, again in Tourmallard.

Both of these I recognise as ex-taxis. There's also another ex-taxi which lives around the corner from me nan. That's an S-plate Ultima in Atlantic Blue. Yet again, I think its a 2.3

I'll update this list as and when I dicover more details.

Went to get me haircut today. Only been going there for the past 4 or 5 cuts, but every time I've seen a really clean Scorpio parked in the road outside.

Finally asked who it belonged to today. Hey presto, its the hair man! Asked him how he liked it (if he liked it) and how he found it.

"OK" was the reply. And that was about it. He really didn't seem interested in this forum or the site or mailing list.  :(

It seems its 'just a car' to him, which is a shame. As I said, its really quite a clean example. Aubergine in colour with dark cloth trim. Plain 'Scorpio' in the badge department so I don't know what engine it has. It's an auto-box though.

Might try again next time  :-/

Cor Blimey!  Hello mate.

I've been seeing you around for ages but have never got the chance to talk or even slip something under your windscreen wiper.

As I said before, I think you live (or did) around the corner from my nan. But am I right about it being an ex-Arrow car?  :-/

And I haven't seen the Atlantic Blue facelift one for a while. Is that still around?  Hmm.... I should visit me nan more often!  :-[

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by paulscorp on Jul 9th, 2005, 10:42am
Hello Paul, yes you are quite right it was an arrow car for a while. I have recently decided to spend some money and make a tatty car nice again, so bit by bit it should end up looking sweet again, hence looking and joining this great site. Yes the blue facelift is still about, its my mate down the road from me, itake it you mean R***SSR?

That's the one.

If you're having bodywork done, I'd be interested to know who you use. The guy who's done my stuff in the past is, well... not in my good books anymore  ::). I need someone new thats good and trustworthy

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by paulscorp on Jul 10th, 2005, 4:04am
Yes, i've got quite a bit to do to the body, my wife kindly dented n/s/r wheel arch and there are a couple of other imperfections to be dealt with, but i'm also going for a complete respray and not sure who to use myself. Maybe between us we may be able to come up with someone???
???

I plan to facelift it, and hopefully make it a very nice car once again. It still isnt too bad, but, after seeing the likes of yours and Baz's, i'm a little ashamed  :'(

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by Baz on Jul 10th, 2005, 9:36am
Hey Paul, mine isn't brilliant you know, it just takes a good picture!! I have a small patch of rust on one wheelarch that needs sorting soon but the S reg red one I had before this was better body wise. This S reg one just looks a bit diferent with its chavved up back end!!

When do you come back old bean? I'll keep my eyes out for you on the M20   :)

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent

We get the ferry at 20:15 on Thursday so 1 1/2 hour cossing takes us to 21:45, take off an hour gets us 20:45 so any time after that, I will be batting through Kent hopefully!!

hi all, great site you got here. well, here's my scorpio, the one around the corner from your nan's paul.b. btw, it'll be me reccomending a paintsprayer for you, i only heard good stuff, but not had a car painted by him yet. he will be painting my project car next summer, so if you can wait that long, you can see how good it really is.

Ni Nutty!   :)

I think I might be able to hang on a bit more for paint. Let's hope so anyway - finances aren't able to stretch too far at the moment.

I've had me nan on the blower this weekend complaining that I don't visit often enough, so I culd well be round your way again very soon.

Anyway, welcome to the forum  :)

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by Paul B on Aug 30th, 2005, 6:45am
Don't really see any others around here regularly.

Having said that, there is an old boy with a black Ultima saloon (24v I think). He used to live over this way and drive into town every morning (I used to see him almost every day). I think he may have moved now, but I saw it twice last week, so its still around. Still very clean and very good nick.

Also, did you notice another green one appear down Hythe Road? Again, that disappeared and got replaced by a Fiesta, but then returned again a couple of weeks ago. Mind you, its gone again now. Maybe it just visits  :-/

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by paulscorp on Aug 30th, 2005, 10:09am
I see 2 or 3 regulars in the town, 1 in sussex avenue, 1 on the new fairview estate in sth willes and a quite nice burgundy one on hunter avenue appeared, i could go on but i'd only bore you lol

yes a mini meet would be good

regards paul

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by Paul B on Aug 30th, 2005, 6:17pm
Nah, you'd have to go a long way to bore me mate  ;D

How could I forget Sussex Avenue? Me bruvva lives down there. I keep meaning to pop a card under his wipers but, erm... I keep forgetting!  :-[

Haven't seen the others you mention, but there's also a blue one always parked at the old Crouch's garage (Willesborough). Must be someone who works in there.

Also, where I get my hair cut, the guy in there has an Aubergine Ghia (I think) and he keeps that really clean. Trouble is, he just didn't want to talk about it when I started a discussion  :-/ :-X :-[

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by paulscorp on Aug 30th, 2005, 10:57pm
yeah the one in crouch's is one of the mechanics, that used to be an arrow car too, but it doesnt look like he carries on the with the car maintenance work when he gets home  ;D

there's another ex arrow car that i'm gonna try and get my hands on too, it had to bodged through last MOT so hoping i can acquire it for lots of spares

Saw a bit of an odd one here today, driving along Kennington Road....

It was an S-reg (S*** BUB) but it was a pre-facelift model.

Never seen it before so it could have just been passing through.

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by nutty on Sep 3rd, 2005, 9:19pm
yeah, does sound a bit odd, not seen it myself, there are stranger ones about, paulscorp assures me there is one about on a v reg, i guess it sat on a forecourt for a few years, before being reg'd

Title: Re: Ashford, Kent
Post by Paul B on Sep 3rd, 2005, 10:05pm
Ah, yes, the famous V-reg.  I'm not getting into that one though, as it caused arguments last time it was spoken about. I got dragged into it and I know the person in question is watching again.    ::)

The remnants of the discussion and a couple of photos can be seen here... V-reg Topic (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=OT;action=display;num=1120436972;start=0#0)

Not much sign of life there I must say. Mind you, that estate looked a bit more bare than when I last spied it  ;)

With regard to tomorrow, I'll be going up to the meet at Hertfordshire so I won't be around. Could pop round briefly in the evening maybe OR... maybe a 5minute thing before I go  :-/  I usually leave at around 11 for that meet.

Thanks ever so much for the offer Russ, but I'm going to give this one a miss.

The car is still in bits, which is a pain. But we've also just got ourselves a pup which needs a bit o' love 'n' stuff.

We'll keep an eye out for you Kevin  :)

By the way, I notice that Tourmallard Ultima has re-appeared along Hythe Road. Thought that had been sold or something.

N*** YVX  seen today parked up in a garden.   :)

Looks quite nice really. A dark grey colour that you don't see too often.
Having said that, I saw another this afternoon the same colour. Appears to live down Magazine Road.

Saw a new one (new to me anyway) in Ashford this afternoon.

Nice Black Facelift (S95 DAR)

Let it come past me as I approached ParkFarm Tesco.
As it came past, I gave a nod and received either an approving glance or got looked down the drivers nose at. Couldn't quite work out which it was!  :-/

Anyway, in overtaking, you got yourself in the wrong lane and had to pull off a fantastic manouvre to get around to Tesco!  :-X

Had a rather nice State Blue Ultima tag onto my rear end today along Canterbury Road, Kennington.

Followed me all the way to Sainsburys too, but went to a diffferent section of the car park.

Can't remember the full reg now, but it was an R-plate pre-facelift just like mine. In fact, it was even a 24v too.
The only difference I could see compared to mine is that this one had headlamp washers (mine doesn't).
