Title: Me and my Scorpio
Post by jonpic46 on Jun 1st, 2006, 10:00pm
Hi Everyone
Where has this site been all my life? I have a 1997 Scorpio 'Ultima' Reg; G1DAP. I have my own little private hire business, and I would not use any other car for this purpose. Keep your Mercs. My Clients love to travel in comfort and leather. If anyone sees me on the road, give me a wave. I do Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton on a regular basis.
Will be on site again soon looking for advice, see you then.

JOHN

Thank you, Thank you. for  your warm welcome. I don't know how I have managed, but I am here now. Quick query, I want to replace my Instrument panel bulbs, one or two have gone, what type of bulbs do I need ? and how easy, or difficult, is it to remove the Fascias?

Take care all, Jonno

Is that the only problem you have?.....instrument bulbs.......
There are Scorpios on here that are near to death & all you can say is "instrument bulbs".
You lucky,lucky man (or woman).
Are you sure that there isn't something seriously wrong with your Scorpio?.....Come on...there must be some kind of terminal problem?

Just being sarcastic ;D....Welcome to the site & I hope all your (Scorpio) prayers will be answered :)

I have had this Scorpio ( 1997 'Ultima' 1998cc,16 Volts ?  Purple, or as they say in Dagenham, Dark Aubergine.) since January 2005, it had done 89,000 miles. I have my own little private hire business ( One man and his car went to..? ) Anywhere I get paid to go. Today on my return journey from Heathrow it turned over into 150.000. All I have had done on the car is brake pads, tyres and two services, and those chucked out nothing major. She,yes she, has been just about perfect, I have said the last bit quietly, because she is stood just outside and might hear me, and you know what women are like? I am going away on Holiday tomorrow, Monday, to TENERIFE,so I am having the Cam belt done as a precaution, and given the onceover. I will write to you from the Canaries ( No, not Norwich City's dressing room ) and wish you were....Well, in England, reallay.

take care all,

Man called Jonno

Sorry, it's me again. Just one minor thing, the piece of metal that connects the two wiper arms, falls off occasionally, and does not seem very secure at the best of times, any thoughts ?

Hello my friend
thanks for that, I am just going to click on the link shortly. Also for the 'Cam' belt advice, I didn't realise they were chain driven. What is the life span of the chain, and how often should it have attention? many thanks, once again.

My word, fancy a trade...... :-X
Step away from the site and put your keyboard down! This is for your own good! The more you will read up on here, the more and more you will start worry ::) ;D
I remember the days of care free Mundaneo driving where cars just seemed to magicly run and run.......

Hi Chaps ( and Chapesses)
One day I will be able to help someone, at the moment all I seem to be doing is asking for help, like now. I have a 2ltr 16v auto, I am experiencing, on occasions, a slight difficulty when depressing my Accelerator pedal, it seems to stick, until I give it a little more pressure, then it surges forward, bit embarrassing when you want to give the customer a smooth ride, any suggestions?

many thanks, JONNO

Jonno, I also have a problem pressing my accelerator pedal. I find it drains my wallet dry of beer tokens. ;D ;D ;D
But on a more helpfull note I have used a cable oiler designed for motorcycles to lube my cables and it makes a great difference.
Take a look at this, its exactly the same as mine
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-MOTORCYCLE-CABLE-OILER-MOTOCROSS-ENDURO-TRAIL_W0QQitemZ140003601834QQihZ004QQcategoryZ9946QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Basicaly you clamp it over the end of the cable and it has a small hole that a wd40 style tube fits into then you squirt the oil as normal.
If your cable is sticky I would use wd40 first but not to much as it will come out on your carpets and then use a decent lubricating oil

Hi All
Not been here for a while ( Hurrah! went the cry) anyway, just a query, Why,when everything is turned off, do I still get warm air coming through my dashboard vents, even though they too are closed? all the best.
