Caught my eye of course Rodders, even though it was only the front, the one on the funeral was a Coleman Milne Mk10,based on the Aussie Ford Fairlane, the best big Ford they could find after the Scorpio, the parts situation always had me in doubt.

Yes, saw it as well - thought I may be mistaken as the first funeral car shown was not a Scorpio.  Do you think it might be the one for sale on Ebay?

James.
Very unlikely it's the same hearse, the one on ebay (P704 VFV) is for sale by Wilcox at their Nottingham branch, they are a big outfit based at one of the Chalfonts in Bucks, they build Eagle specialist vehicles at their Lancashire factory, mostly stretching  Daimler Jags and Vauxhalls.
They tend to 'blow out' their older trade ins on ebay under the 'hearseseller' handle.

Hi Rodders,

Just joined the membership and read this blog. The hearse that was in The Doc Martin series the Scorpio that you seen is mine. I can proudly say it is still in full service to date in Padstow, Cornwall, The scene was in Port Isaac in Cornwall. I also have the matching Limousine both are the 2.9 version. They are currently part of a fleet of four Scorpios in full service. For the Church scene the dates were changed unfortunately last minute , the scorpio hearse was unavailable, so the Aussie version was acquired at short notice. As part of an ongoing replacement programme, the Cardinal Hearse & Dorchester Limousine will become available later this year, Thank you ,Gozz & retiredjames for the interest.

Martinlimo.
I decided to retire earlier this year at 70 and sold six of my Scorpio fleet, retaining one to fill in the occasional gap.Whilst in the regular fire service in 1969 many of us worked in the funeral trade whilst off duty,I've been with it on and off ever since servicing independents and trying to avoid the conglomerates  ::) just a bit of boring background for you  ;)
