Well just back from first major trip in the Estate, a 1000 mile round trip to Germany.

Didn't miss a beat the whole way, and yes I really like driving this car, the Torque and mid range acceleration is just fantastic.

996 miles, average 28 mpg, at an average speed for the whole trip of 57 mph, which as that includes many long delays on M20 (are they turning that into a post Brexit Lorry Park?) and long delays twice around Brussels, you can deduce that I was cruising at high 90's for as much of the time as I could! And a few times in Germany took it up to 120.

Didn't use a drop of oil, plus no trace of oil around the plug holes, so previous bubbling must have been down to badly torqued plugs not leaking cam cover gaskets as I had previously feared.

Temp gauge never moved off mid position even in the longest hold ups.

Random illumination of AirBag light throughout trip got annoying, so stuck a piece of tape over it, must sort that this winter!

It may be subjective but I think the engine really enjoyed having the cobwebs blown out of it, if anything its running better, quieter, and idling so smoothly now.

Unfortunately a 1000 miles of road grime to now clean off it!

Yes Alan. these Cossies absolutely lap up long distance, high speed Motorway, Autobahn driving. In all truth Alan, I am envious. I truly am!

"The Beast," as featured on the site and now defunct as a result of RUST, covered many miles in Germany, :-/.

Truly great cars!

Eeek, I want to go for a drive, a real drive.

Hi Alan, just fixed my light, it took me a while, but not as bad a job as I thought, I had put it off for years. If you are not going to change bulbs in the C C panel dont bother taking it out as the ribbon cable is easy to get to when the trim is being removed. Glad you had a good trip and as you say the cosworth is a great car to drive at speed.

Got to love the sense of humour these Scorpio's have! 1000 mile round trip and only the slightly annoying air bag light, 200 mile round trip last week with trailer to collect new competition car, exactly the same. Parked in garage last Thursday not a warning light in sight, drive it out today for some fuel and the promised clean and instantly I have ABS and Traction Control warning lights on, that refuse to go out, decided to use on a short 40 mile round trip to see if it made any difference with numerous start stops, but no they stay on and Air Bag light stays resolutely off, until I stop outside the garage, back up, at which point ABS and Traction lights go out, and stay out whilst I park up.

Iv'e just had to warn it that play up like that next time and it can forget the wash and blow dry :-)

That is sooooo Scorpio!!

Had the same a while ago with my 95 cos saloon, played about with the wires behind the wheel and all was well, and has been since.

was the car in regular use before it came to you, as these have a big problem with non use.

I'm sure this car is playing with me, used it again about three weeks ago for a couple of days and instantly it started the abs and traction lights came on and stayed on through multiple start stops and around 150 miles over a couple of days, the air bag light also coming on and off a lot of the time. So put it back in garage and said "I must find a couple of hours and have a go at sorting this". Earlier this week cold but dry so thought OK lets get it out tak it for a run and then see about sorting the warning lights. Yep you guessed it, not a single warning light, even used it for multiple shorts trips over a couple of days just to provoke it, but nada. How do you fix a problem that you haven't got! :)

Just use it and all will be fine :)

If you have a Scorpio cossie estate why would you drive anything else?, unless its a transit for stuff that wont fit in it ::)

Best bet is a code reader, unlike with engine problems where there "might" be a fault code - with ABS assuming it isn't a faulty light there will be a code.
