Post by Baz on Jan 31st, 2005, 10:55pm
And another thing admin....can we get the name changed on the http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/meet0603.htm

page that says Andy, Steve and Kevin to Barry Steve and Kevin? It has been wrong like that for a year and a half and frankly it is about time I got some recognition!!

Just because you can't see me behind Steve (No offence Steve, it is just the camera angle.....honest!!) I was the fourth man, the extra leg....the missing link (well you know what I mean anyway!!)

See, that is me on the right next to Steve....and you all thought it was Robbie Williams!!

Lee,

This will take you to the Derby convoy last year.
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/meet0504.htm

Scorps from all over the country made it to Harewood in 2004, so I reckon there must be a chance for even more this year.

A nice cruise up the M1 or A1 from Herts  ;D

For Vulcan

Here are the Harewood details, more generally folks if you think you will be coming along you need to let Anne know.

Title: Re: harewood house meeting
Post by Vulcan on Mar 9th, 2005, 12:35pm
Just done a multimap and it's a mere 90 miles from me, Scorp won't even work up a sweat.
Multimap reckons 1 hr 44 mins, reckon I could cut that down to an hour and a half which means to get there for 8am we gotta leave at 6.30 ish. Seems do-able, I'll send off an email pronto.... well this evening from home  ;D
What do I ask for? Do I have to book a pitch?

Title: Re: harewood house meeting
Post by nick on Mar 9th, 2005, 12:56pm
Took us an hour last year, and that was taking it easy.

kev i might get Sue to drive back this year and we might squeeze a beer in ,just to be sociable like.

Now then isnt it my birthday on the 12th june, timed that right. Sue is on about a romantic weekend in Prague, but on a summers day Harewood is like prague aint it  ;)

Look forward to pleasure of everyones company, now to decide which car to bring, its like deciding what to wear.

just done a multimap and if it's the harewood in west yorkshire then its a mere 460 mile round trip! any other harewoods i should be looking at?

Title: Re: harewood house meeting
Post by Vulcan on Mar 9th, 2005, 2:30pm
I entered Harewood house and got this result...

Harewood House (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&GridE=-1.53020&GridN=53.89730&lon=-1.53020&lat=53.89730&db=freegaz&cidr_client=none&lang=&place=Harewood+House,West+Yorkshire&pc=&advanced=&client=public&addr2=&quicksearch=harewood+house&addr3=&scale=100000&addr1=)

It is in Yorkshire... assuming I got the right place.

;D

I did weston last year... just a minor 750 miles round trip...... and a following petrol tanker ;)

Title: Re: harewood house meeting
Post by Geoff_W on Mar 9th, 2005, 11:19pm
Tom and George, you got it spot on. OOP North or down in your case George is quite a road trip. It is a hike up from Wales, great day, but certainly a journey.

Would it help if we came up with a stop off venue for people that want to travel up on Saturday?

Have a look at this its about a 35-40min drive up to Harewood from there and is just off Junction 32 of the M62, and handy for the M1/A1.

Have a look at this (follow Castleford)
http://www.xscape.co.uk/Default.asp?f=1&

And there is a New Tulip Hotel just opened there, follow the stay link for details (Currently doing rooms at £49.50 a night).

Snowboarding anyone? 8)

Could be a good muster point for folks that want to do the last bit in a convoy.

;D Caution  ;D Danger  ;D Caution  ;D
Just across the road from the Freeport Outlet Mall so leave your credit cards at home  ;D or it could be a really pricey weekend ;)

It may be possible to come up with some other options / links for anybody thats interested.

Much easier choice for locals, but Snoopy, Eric R, Scorpio Man and KEF travelled a fair way last time, any feedback from them could be very helpful.

I/We (thats the Royal we) hope to be attending at Harewood This year.
It really was a super meet , in a super location, and lots to do as well, for those that have small ones and use more mature people as well.

There is a BAR which some of the memebers found advantageous (no names mentioned) as well as stalls, fair ground rides and of course the great selection of cars and not forgetting Harewood House itself....

Is some one going to put Annes Email addy up again so we can contact her,? She is so good at organising this event ( creep, creep)

Title: Re: harewood house meeting
Post by Geoff_W on Mar 10th, 2005, 5:24pm
Hi Dave,

In first instance that you want to go on the list for Harewood, if you can also give her contact point / email to keep you up to date with the logistics.

She will need an address at some point so that you can get a pass/tickets for entry. Last year cost £5.00 per car, so a huge saving over public entry and there were several thousand people who came along to view the cars.

Things are looking great in 2005, with lots of smaller area gatherings at local venues where people have been having great times and putting faces to names.

This will be the first big set piece meet this year and then of course Michael is arranging the Weston do on the 31st of July.

For anybody else reading this, you know who you are ;D

If you have considered this sort of thing and want to know more, watch this space or have a look at the page that Eric R wrote following 2004.

Booked the weekend off work, not going to prague, going to HAREWOOD.

We are all parking in a line with berties car at the top, that way his missis can just carry on washing all our cars this time.

Right I think I had better get me coat.

Is there a car park for the slightly more ordinary scorpios? cause I'm not lifting my bonnet!(Oh,the shame :-[)Me and the missus would love to attend but don't want to be on any front line! :-/
As I've seen on the site, the Harewood meet has a strong reputation for prime specimens where as mine is not!.A shady spot under a large tree would be fine!then we could have a good look at all your fine scorp examples(Belive me this is not sarcasum,it's the truth)
We would love to be there!.

Don't worry M8,  ;)
It's not only about the car, it's about meeting people with with a similar  interest, and don't worry the picture's make the car's look tidier then they actually are. ( which is nice) about having to lift the bonnet up, not many do, unless you have a problem under the bonnet, and you need help with it, and you will find plenty of willing helper's. You will find a great bunch of people to have a chat and laugh with. In all a great day out for all.

hi there

latest update from anne.......

Thanks for all info guys
I just need to check something and remind people
Are you all current members of the www.fordscorpio.co.uk group
AND
Have you all got Ford Scorpios and not Granada Scorpios
Seems petty and I am sorry BUT have just had ear bending about the
differences and apparently there are a couple. Someone has put a notice
on the GSO site I have been informed and this may have caused confusion.
I know that Barry you have already asked about GSO's and I gave you the
information to take a group, perhaps I can navigate others to you if you
tell me its OK and you can include them in your friends booking ( you
will see I have blind copied to all)

Also there is a little competition that Harewood run that's looks for
best car, don't want to confuse them

Sorry to be a fuss pot, and hope they guys from the GSO group will come
and say a big hallo.
If this does not apply to you then ignore me,
thanks
cheers
anne

i thought when you were saying you did'nt want your scorp in full view,at the meet that it must be a bit rough on the edges. Well M8 ! after looking at your pics with your new wheels on ,all i can say is if thats what your car looks like 'in the flesh' then i am definatly up for the award for the crappiest scorp at the meet LOL

Me thinks that it is going to need , LOTS of water thrown over it and the leather and also a FULL bottle of Auto Glym restorer.
How long to the meet 4 weeks Bl%%dy Hell, i had better start the Restoration plan TODAY !!!! lets see, OH Yes ! make a list kevin

Start Rubbing down rust on rear wheel arches.
put some new filler over the old filler...... & on, and on

I'll second that Baz , Jayne and i need to focus on having a great time for Dan and Kev, as we are still missing them both a great deal , and i know how desperate Danny_R wanted to be at the meet to see all his mates again, but reality kicked in ! Florida to Harewood and then return , is just too much dosh , when Dan is trying to get his Bisiness up and running over in the u.s.

Cheers !

Your worrying me now! ???
Do we all have to have a display sheet?
      It's only a 2.0l you know,it's nothing special!
It was a lot less formal at the Derby meet!
And don't forget, this is a first at Harewood for me!
What's the purpose of the display sheet?
(And please don't mention the word Judging)
What have I let myself in for? ;D
       Heeeeeeelppp! :-[
