Title: Selkirk Classic Car Rally 18th September 2011 Post by Highlander on Jun 27th, 2011, 4:35pm Selkirk Classic Car Rally 18th September 2011 Sunderland Hall Selkirk TD7 4QW (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&xhr=t&q=td7+4qw&cp=7&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1903&bih=850&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4887846cbecfbb83:0x7eb27da54aa24579,Selkirk+TD7+4QW&gl=uk&ei=waIITtGkMZK6hAfMsdW3DQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&sqi=2&ved=0CBkQ8gEwAA) One of the biggest if not thee biggest in Scotland this one and only a few miles over the border :) Bigger than Harewood , should be around 2000 entries this year. Entries need to be in by 6th August £2 per entry per vehicle allows entry for 2 adults, children free I've been going to this one for years now but I'm always the only Scorpio in the village ;D Will be there again this year with at least one Scorpio and a Sierra if anyone wants to join me. Would be nice to enter into the club section with a few Scorpios rather than get shoved in the post '91 section! ;D For anyone coming up the M6 I'd advise taking the A7 at Carlisle rather than the A708 at Moffat otherwise you will be dodging sheep for an hour or so (although that may appeal to a few of you) ;D Free camping on the showground from the Friday night onwards for tents/caravans etc but no facilities on site. (well portaloos but no showers etc) There is a classic car run around the Borders on the Saturday morning which is quite good, a huge procession of all sorts of cars doing roughly a 30 mile run. |

Title: Re: Selkirk Classic Car Rally 18th September 2011 Post by Geoff_W on Jun 27th, 2011, 5:15pm Sounds great, the thought of a marauding horde of Scorpios swarming across the border certainly appeals, however :( I will be doing rest and recreation in North Norfolk (Wells next the Sea) that week 8) so sadly not me. |

Now, do I drive the Scorpio up or the Westfield? Hmm, what about the Westfield on a trailer towed by the Scorpio? |

Title: Re: Selkirk Classic Car Rally 18th September 2011 Post by Highlander on Sep 21st, 2011, 10:41am Yeah lol, I was late home purely because i waited at the gate for a couple of hours watching everyone trying to get out! ;D V8 Mustangs may well chew you up on the road but they don't do 3 inches of mud covered wet grass! ;D Luckily this year I took a Sierra 4x4 ;D |

Title: Re: Selkirk Classic Car Rally 18th September 2011 Post by Mike H on Sep 22nd, 2011, 5:10pm You reminded me, years ago waiting behind a big custom muscle car (pick-up truck type thing actually), damp greasy road, like it is when it's just started raining; when the lights went green he had the devil's own job getting it going, lol ;D |
