Grille.... Not yet - waiting until I get the lights ;) Lights... Not yet - waiting until I have some spare money :( There's the air-con mod of course, and also a replacement sunroof to fit too. Will do that one when the proper weather's here. I need to work out how to stop everything else happening in the world, while I tinker with the car. ::) |

Cheers Craig ;) The mod is quite simple to fit and is worth it IMO - it can also be fitted without using the headlight bezel - just find a spot near the coin tray! Dave |

Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by craig on Apr 14th, 2005, 10:03am as daven states,it really is quite simple to fit... have a read of....... THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/acmod.htm) i did the fitting using the dual headlight bezel,but 2 points to remember with this.. 1.the actual dual headlight bezel is quite hard to come by secondhand.. and 2.the mod will need filing and shaping to fit into the bezel,this is quite time consuming,and mistakes can be made if you cut it too short >:( >:( personally i think it looks tidier,but again as daven states,it is a lot easier to fit the mod next to the headlight switch..... |

Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by admin on Jun 4th, 2005, 10:34pm Good to hear that the mods are again proving popular this year. Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by waynem325 on Jun 29th, 2005, 12:46pm I haven't got self levelling suspension on me car so instead I have the headlight level adjustment knob >:( I know the mod controller can be fitted anywhere but does anyone have any pictures so I can see how it would look elsewhere. Not totally sure where I would put it, but I wondered if it would be possible to remove the Headlight Levelling Control and fit the aircon mod control in its place, then put the HLC somewhere else (Out of sight ) I very rarely use the HLC so am not too fussed if it's well out of sight, plus with the weather we've had of late the aircon mod would get used all the time! I don't really want to put something anywhere inside the car that doesn't look like it was supposed to be there...if you take my meaning :D Lots of pics really appreciated TA Wayne :) |
||
Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by craig on Jun 29th, 2005, 3:37pm wayne.. just a suggestion here,but if you dont use the headlight leveller,why not fit the booster there.all you have to do is remove the switch,unplug the mini loom and leave it there untill it's time to change the car then simply replace it.... thats where mine is... |
||
Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by waynem325 on Jun 29th, 2005, 10:39pm Thats pretty much what I had in mind, though thought that I could remove then re-connect the HLC switch and cable tie it under the dash somewhere (above the pedals) just incase I ever needed it....? That way it won't be an eye sore, still usable and I get the ac mod too ;D Famous last words...but I don't intend to change the car for as long as it will last. It has a tow bar which I intend to furnish with an "occasional" trailer in the future so think the HLC would perhaps come in handy then. I just love the idea of been able to control the actual ac itself-more gadgets!!!! ;D Wayne ;) |
||
Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by craig on Jun 30th, 2005, 7:07am WAYNE PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD TO DO,BUT 1 WORD OF CAUTION,THE SHAFT OF THE MOD WILL HAVE TO BE CUT SHORTER,AND TAPERED SLIGHTLY TO GO INTO THE HEADLIGHT LEVELLING SWITCH,THE EASY WAY TO DO THIS,IS WHEN YOU TAKE THE ORIGINAL SWITCH OUT,USE THE EXISTING SWITCH AS A TEMPLATE,YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN WHEN YOU REMOVE IT............. GOOD LUCK..... CRAIG |

Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by Daven on Jun 30th, 2005, 7:43am I have now moved mine - I did use the basic headlight switch as per the picture on the main site - but was never happy with it! I have found that it will fit in the dash just a bit higher up and to the left of the headlight switch - I have taken a picture! here it is (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave.neale/aircon.htm) I used a knob from Maplins thats looks good as well! (Part number FK38R) HTH Dave |

Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by nuttyscorp on Apr 27th, 2006, 12:01am chris, i dont think he has any left, nor any plans to make some more?, i'm sure daven will confirm soon. Russ |
||
Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by Daven on Apr 27th, 2006, 7:54am Russ is correct as in I don't have any left - but I will make up another batch this year, however I may not have much time so it could be a one off. Please note that it was PeteC and SteveC who developed this brilliant idea so any 'profit' goes to the site! It is also worth mentioning that any mod carried out on your car is done at your own risk. Last year we found that the mod did not work on a couple of cars for some unknown reason (they seemed to have a slightly different thermistor which may be the reason. I can check this using your VIN no). Your air con system should also be in good condition - as the systems are now 8-10 years old, parts could be failing anyway - fitting the mod is not a cure! I will check out supply details and let you know cost etc. In the mean time anyone interested please PM me your email address! Dave |

Title: Re: Air Con Booster mod Post by the_machine on May 4th, 2006, 12:03am how about an automatic adjuster. A thermister inside the cabin, as cabin temp drops so does the resistance value in parallel across the de-ice probe. THis would give automatic rapid cooling until cabin temp falls, trial and error to get thermistor values correct, but it should work. An extrmel simple version would be a 'stat' that switches a resistor in. you vary the stat according to the temp you would like the boost. say if it was over 35 inside then it would boost until below say 25c |
