Title: Hoping aint ye?

Saw this (http://cars.yahoo.co.uk/resultsmidi_100354123_100354123-1B27DB908FE02EFFC991B47744AF2E3A/Ford,Ford|scorpio,Up_to_GBP5_000) on Yahoo!

Rather steep isnt it?

Also, if you read the Scorps review on the same yahoo webpage, it says to beware of "clocking"?  i thought it was imposs to do this with the digital dash.  When i removed the clocks for my led mod, it kept the mileage in its memory.

But then it also says theres lots of "wood" in the interior trim of the car  }{

You just change the clocks for one off a lower mileage one......................allegedly!!

Aparentley that is not the case as the milage is stored in the engine odometer so fitting another clock, it would revert back to the higher number. Could be wrong, but I am sure I read this off the main site at some point.

I see Craignairn car's has still got that Scorpio.  When I was looking for a Scorpio 2 years ago, he had it then :o  Had a green 12v for a while too. (no, not mine!)

No wonder at that price ::)

I put brand new clocks in mine and the mileage read at 0, if you put the old one back in it displays the old mileage, so yes it is possible to "change" the mileage by putting clocks in that have lower mileage, although the true mileage of the car is stored in the computer somewhere

I covered this some time ago but my post was removed...

The mileage is held in a chip in the instument cluster and can be changed by someone who has the correct equipment to do it. You will find these people advertising in most of the motoring press. It's not illegal to do this but it is illegal to attempt to sell the vehicle without declaring that the mileage has been changed.

I did it on mine when I tried a set from an older car when I was checking that the facelift clocks do not have the LED for the coolant level indicator fitted. I had to solder my own in!! for a short while, mine had 186,000 on the clock!
