Title: Facelift Rear Lights - Full Set & Brand New
Post by DazRSK on Aug 7th, 2006, 6:05pm
If anyone is interested, I have, for sale on ebay, a full set of brand new facelift (1998) Scorpio saloon rear lamps - all 3 pieces.

I bought them from the Ford dealer on July 28th, having ordered them back in February this year. The main reason for sale is that, in the interim period, I have already bought and fitted a 2nd hand set of facelift lamps - I had totally given up on waiting for the ordered set to appear from the Daventry Parts Warehouse.

Surprise, surprise......the dealer phoned me in July to tell me that the lights were in and I was in a muddle as to whether to buy them and replace the used set on the back of mine or whether to ask dealer to return them. So I decided the former and have susequently decided to sell them on instead. I picked up my 2nd hand set really cheap, as they are a bit tatty and have decided that I would be able to sell the new set of lamps more easily.

Anyway, here is a rare chance to buy an unfitted set of 1998 style lamps.

I haven't attached the ebay link here, as I figured if you are really interested you can search under 1998 Facelift Scorpio Rear Lights on ebay and find the auction. Sorry - the advert is a bit waffley but, unlike you guys on here, some ebay public probably wouldn't have a clue what a facelift Scorpio looked like. Plus, imho, the facelift version does look better than the earlier version - hence the reason for fully facelifting mine.

I would prefer, now, for these to run the full auction as I have already had 1 bid within the first 24 hours of these being on there. And there is no charge for postage & packing - now that is a refreshing surprise!!

Daren

PS - don't be fooled by my ebay id. I have used the name I only use at the weekends........only joking!!! It's my wife's id.

I wish I could keep the new ens, Matt. Well....there's nothing actually stopping me but the old ones are a bit tatty with a few cracks - they're not grim, just not perfect.

Baz got £200 for his ? Well that's what I hope I could achieve with these but we will see. To be honest - £200 is a bargain vs £265 from Ford new. And someone can have them at the end of this week instead of end of this year.

Anyway, we'll see how far the auction goes.

The funny thing was that I only paid £175 for the whole car!! and I sold the front facelift grille for £30.00 so I still have a complete car that has already shown a profit!

Do you guys think these facelift versions are in a bit of a unique position ?

What I mean is that take any other Ford model of the recent 20 years. I can't think of many 2nd hand parts from say, a Sierra or early Mondeo or Escort (perhaps not RS or limited editions) where buying the part new from Ford is nearly as cheap as a 10 year old item.

It must be to do with the scarcity and that they are so sought after. It's a bit like living in the Ferrari world - where you buy something and make an investment a few years later (well nearly).   ;D ;D

Front grill revised(smaller chrome plate at top) front bumper has vents for brakes and one piece fog/indicators. Rear lights no chrome, lights either side with "Scorpio" spacer inbetween rather than one complete light running width of car as on old car.

the rear lights are smoked, and dont have the chrome strip,
the front lights are tinted (part of the chrome reflector is actually black),
the front bumper is a slightly different shape, and has vents next to the fog lights,
the grill is different, no chrome, and the ford badge is in a different place,
the centre rear seat has a full seat belt, as apposed to a lap belt,
traction controll fitted to some later spec ones
up to 4 air bags in later spec ones.

think thats about it.......

I've spotted another difference that nobody mentioned in the very comprehensive lists already provided. Sorry!!!

Bit of a feeble difference really, however, still part of Ford's revised policy.

All Ultima's lost the manual box - only auto's available on this spec. (and yes, I know this was no difference for the 2.9 lumps which would only come with this option anyway)

All good executive motors come with an auto box. Why mess about with the wobbly stick routine when you really want to concentrate on the driving..........unless the auto box goes west in Paris and leaves you stranded (well sort of)  ;D
