Title: Re: 2.3 top loom Post by danny-mack on Feb 1st, 2009, 8:19am Hi Steve, cheers for the prompt response, it was quicker than I had anticipated (most of my replies/posts arent picked up that quickly if at all). It's not an urgent replacement part, in fact I'm not sure it needs replacing. According to this site, the slight mis fire under partial throttle might be caused by something else. Could I offer £20 (inc p+p) just to take it off your hands anyway? It'll probably end up sat in my garage instead. Sorry to be a pain, but money being none existant these days ::) Regards Dan |

Title: Re: 2.3 top loom Post by gawsworthboy on Feb 1st, 2009, 12:16pm Hi Dan..look at the TPS....almost always this for hesitant running....disconnect battery first for half hour then re-connect to see if any previous fault codes are removed...sometimes this type of re-set clears all manner of running problems. If it doesnt work I would change the TPS sensor first as I have had 2 fail on vehicles in the past and straight replacement has been effective in both case's. I paid £40 for the loom myself so would need to recoup that I'm afraid. Let me know how you get on...regards...Steve |

Title: Re: 2.3 top loom Post by danny-mack on Feb 2nd, 2009, 11:40pm Aha Goodman. So disconnect battery for 30 mins first. then where would I see such error codes? Is that if I was to plug in an OBD thingy or laptop to the car? And whats a TPS? If it doesnt work, then I'll have to invest in the loom i guess. |

Title: Re: 2.3 top loom Post by gawsworthboy on Feb 3rd, 2009, 12:52pm Hi Dan.....dont worry about OBD yet or the fault codes.....after re-connecting the batter see if the running has improved......also clean the MAF (air flow meter) with carb cleaner....this almost always helps. If the car is still not running right then obtain a replacement TPS sensor....someone on here will have one....and see what she is like then. If at that stage the running has not improoved we will have to look at some other solutions...let us know how you go..... 8) |
