I would think a Scorpio enthusiast copied it out for his own use Adam,I can,t see anything wrong with that, and to pass it on to another Scorpite is surely the best thing to do with it as long as there aren't hundreds of them being sold for profit.I have occasionally printed pages from the site to assist other owners in their desperation, surely that is why Henry gave his kind permission for us to use it,after all there was never a Haynes manual for the car,and if you go to a main dealer, unless there is an older employee there, they will ask you what the blazes is that then ?

All the ford dealers I have been to have it all on computer Gozz and they are kind enough to print it off for me   so I assume Henry is happy for these to be copied within reason such as a enthusiast seeing as he doesn't sell the complete book. If someone copied several copies to sell and make a nice profit out of doing so then I think Henry would be after them with his shotgun lol.

Car manufactures in this country seem to be quite tolerant, Not the US. Someone I know used to sell workshop manuals on cd, all ok untill he sold them in to the US, life time ban from ebay and other threats of prosecution.

My understanding of this kind of thing has always been that it's a bit of a legal grey area - on one hand, yes publishing the Ford workshop manuals infringes copyright and trademarks, but it seems to an extent it's allowed to happen, at least on older cars.

When we last owned Fords, our local dealer always seemed quite happy to print out pages for me, like when I had to remove the dashboard on my Ultima the guy there printed out a few pages for me to follow, and it's been the same with the other brands I've had, except maybe Honda.

It seems to me that when Ford gave the technical info to this website, it's probably fair to say they'd had enough of the Scorpio and by publishing that information in the open it was an unofficial way of relieving themselves of some of the burden of maintaining the cars as they got older (the two dealers I dealt with when I owned mine didn't seem to want to know about it, yet our same year Mondeo they were fine with).

I don't see how Ford could donate that information into the public domain and then complain that it was being reproduced, especially after all these years when they don't even carry all the spare parts or even warranty that model anymore.

If this manual gets sold for a decent price, it'd be nice to think even just a fraction of it went as a donation to the website/forum, because there's a lot of extra information on the site that was provided by the community and I think we (even us ex-owners) should stick together and support the forum.

Just my 2 cents :)
